Queen Alumni Join 2008 Rapids River Days Pageant

This year marked a very special occasion in the history of the Sauk Rapids River Days Pageant program.  As a part of this year's Royalty Reception held just before the evening Pageant, all the past Festival Queens were invited to be a part of a grand reunion.  In this story, you’ll hear from three past Queen winners as they revisit some of their pageant memories. You’ll also hear them speak about the wonderful opportunities that the pageant offers to young women and how it helped them become who they are today. Congratulations to all who participated in the 2008 Rapids River Days Pageant and best of luck to the new royalty as they begin your year of service to the community.

2008 Rapids River Days Pageant * Crowning Ceremony

On Thursday, June 26, the Miss Sauk Rapids Pageant was held at Sauk Rapids/Rice High School in front of a packed crowd. It was an emotional night as all of the young ladies celebrated their hard work and community volunteering. DigElog Sauk Rapids would like to congratulate all of the girls on a job well done. We’d also like to recognize the many volunteers who helped the girls through the entire 10 week process. The Pageant could not exist without your unwaivering dedication.

In this story you’ll see the highlights of the crowning ceremony. Although not all of the girls could be crowned royalty, the Sauk Rapids community has 13 young women whose accomplishments they can be very proud of.

2008-9 Pageant Royalty Selected

Last night, after months of preparation and community service, the 5th Annual Rapids River Days Pageant was held at the Sauk Rapids/Rice High School Performing Arts Center.  Following a Royalty Reception held prior to the pageant to welcome visiting royalty, the Pageant was held at 7:00 pm.

Jana Prow

Age: 18, Senior
Parents: Jim and Gloriana Prow

High School Activities/Interests: Figure Skating, Cross Country, Track, DECA Treasurer, LINK Leader. I enjoy camping, fishing with my dad, and spending time with friends and family.

Future Plans: I will be attending St. Cloud State University and majoring in Business.

Prow was sponsored by the local Knights of Columbus, an international Catholic family fraternal service organization. We impact the Sauk Rapids community with our strong leadership positions at Sacred Heart Church.

Jennifer Deering

Age: 17, Junior
Parents: Dan and Deb Deering

High School Activities/Interests: Cross Country Running, DECA, Project 4 Teens, Improv, LINK Leader, Prom Committee, Voicing our Vision, and volunteering at St. Cloud Hospital. I also enjoy running, scrapbooking, writing my own songs, and spending time with family
and friends.

Future Plans: I plan to attend a four year college and then work my way through to get a nursing degree, become a nurse practitioner, and hopefully become a physician.

High School Activities/Interests: Swimming, Softball, DECA (officer), Concert Choir, Project 4 Teens, Boys Swim & Dive Team Manager. I also enjoy spending time with
my family and friends, traveling, listening and singing along to music, watching movies and camping.

Future Plans: I plan to attend the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities to major in Political Science and
go to Law School.

2008 Rapids River Days Pageant * Make-Up Session

In another exclusive DigElogSAUKRAPIDS 2008 Pageant feature, this story captures the ladies learning how to enhance their facial features.  A local skin care specialist was brought in the teach the girls the finer art of makeup usage.  This story captures the before, during and after makeup application.  With makeup adorn, each pageant candidate introduces themselves and gives recognition to their sponsors.








 

Miss Sauk Rapids Pageant Sash Bash

The Rapids River Days Pageant is on the horizon and the candidates are busy getting to know each other as well as performing various community services. In this story, you’ll see the girls at their first official meeting, “The Sash Bash.” You’ll also hear from Pageant Coordinator Marla Ellness. Marla is a former Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year, and she does a phenomenal job with these young ladies.

After months of preparation and community service, the candidates will participate in the grand finale, the Rapids River Days Pageant.
Pageant candidates will be vying for $3,000 in scholarships: $1,500 for Miss Sauk Rapids, $900 for First Princess, and $600 for Second Princess. Cash and prizes will also be awarded to Miss Congeniality and the Evening Gown/Poise/Personality winner.

Eligible candidates are young women who are juniors or seniors in high school and are residents of Sauk Rapids or Rice, MN. (The candidate's school plays no part in the eligibility requirements.)
   

Sauk Rapids Pageant Queen's Tea

It was a day for pampering themselves.   After a year of community service and a myriad of appearances around central Minnesota, the Miss Sauk Rapids Royalty held their annual Queen's Tea.

The day started at a luxurious home in the Villages Creekside community where the girls ate brunch and conversed with the Sauk Rapids Pageant support team. Then, they proceeded to get their hair and makeup done as well as getting into their formal dresses for an evening on the town .

Meet 2004 Pageant Candidate Jenna Barthelemy

It's that time of year again, when the Sauk Rapids River Days Pageant gets into full swing.  The Pageant SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM provides candidates with 11 weeks (every Thursday, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.) of educational sessions starting April 10, 2008. Speakers will present techniques and training in the areas of poise, posture, projection, interview techniques, etiquette, wardrobe, makeup, hairstyling, candidate preparedness, and community awareness. Community service projects and fundraising activities also are a part of the program to promote goodwill while fostering friendships and having fun.

In this story you'll meet Jenna Barthelemy who was a candidate back in 2004.  Jenna has many fond and rewarding memories of her experiences in the pageant.
