*QUICKTIME *PhoneThe Sauk Rapids Farmers Market had their Grand Opening last week, and
the event was a huge success. Mayor Mark Campbell was on hand to open
the Market with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Miss Sauk Rapids Brittany
Tischmak and First Princess Krista Corrigan were also at the event
serving lemonade. The market features locally grown produce in season
and locally made products.
Vendor
space is still available. Vendors must grow or make their products
within the five county areas of Benton, Stearns, Sherburne, Mille Lacs
and Morrison. Variances to location can be granted at the discretion of
the steering committee for unique products that enhance the market. The
market is open every Thursday through October 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30
p.m. in the Living Waters Lutheran Church parking lot located at
1911-4th Ave. N. in Sauk Rapids, near the intersection of Hwy 15 and
18th St. N. The market is funded in part by a grant from the Initiative
Foundation. The Sauk Rapids Farmers Market Steering Committee is a
taskforce of Celebrate Sauk Rapids, a Healthy Communities Partnership
organization.
This story features footage from the Grand Opening
as well as an interview with Sauk Rapids Farmers Market Steering
Committee member Marilyn Patterson.
