From the moment we sat down to interview ROCORI High School student, Danielle Liebl, we couldn’t help but notice that she never stopped smiling. A Global Messenger for the Special Olympics, Liebl strives to help others feel the same sense of joy, pride, and accomplishment that she has felt participating in the Special Olympics.
As part of her work to help raise funds for the Special Olympics in the ROCORI Area, Liebl and many other volunteers have teamed up with River Oaks Golf Course to host the “Second Annual ROCORI Special Olympics Golf Classic.” The tournament will take place at on June 13, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. If you are interested in participating in this event, golfers and sponsors are still needed! For more information call (320) 248-3743 or email your inquiries to [email protected]. We wish Danielle, the volunteers, and all of the participants at the tournament the best of luck, and you can be sure to watch exclusive coverage from this event only on DigElog ROCORI.
I am Danielle Liebl and a junior at ROCORI High School in Cold Spring, MN. I am also an athlete and Global Messenger for Special Olympics Minnesota. As part of my Global Messenger responsibilities, I speak at various events for Special Olympics throughout Minnesota, and I am also in charge of the Second Annual ROCORI Special Olympics Golf Classic. Last year was the first year I had organized the tournament and we raised $4500 for our local team. This money helped our team maintain five different sports (bowling, swimming, basketball, golf, and bocce) and serve more than 60 athletes.
Once again, I am in the middle of planning our second golf tournament and am having trouble with corporate sponsorship to help support the event. Along with the corporate sponsorship, I am also struggling with acquiring prizes. I was wondering if you would be so kind to donate a cash or inkind donation.
