DigElog ROCORI Milestone: Bob Brink Just 6 Wins Shy of 900

ROCORI Varsity Boys Basketball 2005

With Bob Brink just 6 wins shy of 900 for his career, DigElog ROCORI would like to take a look back at some of the stories we covered with Coach Brink. Here is a look at the ROCORI Spartans 2005 season. 

QUICKTIME

The ROCORI Varsity Boys Basketball team has just started their 36th season along with their coach Bob Brink who has been the head coach during the entire 36 years.  This story captures interviews with the coaches, team captains and highlights of their team practice.

Tonight ROCORI will be hosting the Sauk Rapids-Rice varsity basketball team here in Cold Spring.  The Spartans are working hard each day to improve their game.  Their coaches are excited about this team that they feel has the potential to be one of the better teams in the conference.

Coach Bob Brink begins his 36th season as the ROCORI Spartans Head Boys Basketball coach.  Coach Brink has led Spartan teams to 10 state tournament berths and ranks as the second-winningest head coach (802 victories) in Minnesota high school history.

Senior co-captains Chad Willenbring, Aaron Traut and  Garrett Branstner sharetheir thoughts about the up-coming season.

ROCORI Trail Update

In November of 2009, the ROCORI Trail Committee held an open house at the ROCORI High School. The open house gave community members the opportunity to listen to local officials, trail committee members, and other experts share their personal involvement with the trail. At the end of the meeting, the floor was open to the public for questions. If you would like more information about the ROCORI Trail project, contact your local city hall.

Today we present a special piano music event that rarely happens in the big city let alone in the Land of ROCORI.  Here is a Christmas Grand Piano Duet performed by Cold Spring Area Maennerchor accompanists Ingrid Loewen and Bette Kuss.   

Hear "Go Tell It On the Mountain", "Angels We Have Heard On High" and  "A Merry Christmas Medley".

This music video comes from a concert performed in Melrose at the High School Auditorium on December 12th, 2005.  Both the Maennerchor and the Melrose High School Choir performed during this special holiday event.

2009 Hometown Pride Volunteer Award Winner: Sylvia Raschke & The Friends of the Libary

Sylvia Raschke, a long time resident of Cold Spring, is representing the many volunteers that make up Cold Spring Friends of the Library, a group of people who love libraries, enjoy literature and work together to better the Library programs. Our local friends of the library volunteer thousands of hours every year to help keep the library functioning. Sylvia, and many like her, is working hard to raise money to allow our local library to obtain a much-needed larger space. From “used book sales” to Soup and Chili feeds and most recently the Cold Spring Brewery Oktoberfest, the Friends of the Library are teaming up with community groups to help raise $400,000 for a new library building or space. The library is a place where people of all ages, interests and ethnic backgrounds can have access to the information of the world.

The Story of Honor Flight

As we honor our veterans across America, DigElog ROCORI proudly brings you a story right from the heart of St. Cloud. Luke Cesnik, the president of the St. Cloud Freedom Flight chapter tells us about a program that the group has become involved with, The Honor Flight.

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation—and as a culturally diverse, free society. Now, with over one thousand World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.

DigElog ROCORI History: 2007 Rock-fest Motorcycle Rally

This story features footage from the annual motorcycle tour at Rock-Fest and also an interview with the legendary custom motorcycle creator, Donnie Smith. Digelog Rocori would like to congratulate the Rockville community on the success of Rock-Fest and we hope that next year will be bigger and better.

Be sure to catch all of the 2009 Rock-fest activities. On Friday July 11, 2009 a new group of Rockville Royalty will be crowned. Early Saturday the Rock-Fest festivities begin and they continue through the day, until the evening, when the Rockville Parade travels through town.

Richmond Resort Canoe Expedition

In this story you will meet Susan Schlangen, a teacher at Richmond Resort, a.k.a. Richmond Elementary. Each year Richmond Elementary creates a theme for their summer students in order to put a positive spin on their summer program. This year, the theme for the summer program is “conservation.”

DigElog ROCORI History: One Year Ago

Last year, DigElog ROCORI was in attendance at the Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year Banquet. Although this story is not directly related to the land of ROCORI, we at DigElog pride ourselves on capturing stories and leaving a legacy for those that follow us. This story is a brilliant example of capturing a part of Phil Pederson's legacy.

One year ago...

In this story you’ll get a chance to learn about the 2008 Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year, Phil Pederson. The Chamber of Commerce held a banquet lunch that paid tribute to Phil, and recognized the years of civil service that he was a part of in the Sauk Rapids community. You’ll also get a chance to hear from Greg Vandal, the MC for the event.
