Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union Opens New Office In Cold Spring

Today was the "Grand Opening" and "Ribbon Cutting" of the new Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union office in Cold Spring, Minnesota. The new office is located in what used to be the Bagel & Brew just a few hundred feet to the north of their old location at the intersection of Red River Avenue and Highway 23.

The new office is about 33% larger and includes a much friendlier layout for members and customers to use the Credit Union. The addition of a drive-up window and a night depository are features local members have been asking for and will now be able to take advantage of in this new space.

Central Lakes Conference HUSKY CLASSIC Track Meet

It was the first meet of the year for most of the 10 Central Lakes Conference High School Track teams attending this year's Husky Classic at St. Cloud State University.  Runners and coaches get to see their potential for the first time.  With the early spring this year, coaches were elated to have been outside already compared to the average year when there's still snow on the ground.  In this story you'll hear from coaches representing St. Cloud Tech and St. Cloud Apollo.

Maennerchor play part in the 2010 Big Sing in Staples, MN

It was Saturday morning rehearsal for the 2010 Big Sing. Over 400 men will perform this evening in a combined concert held at the Staples Motley High School Gymnasium in Staples, Minnesota. The concert and weekend convention is sponsored by the Staples Area Men's Chorus. The Cold Spring Area Maennerchor is one of the 11 chore's performing together this evening. DIGELOG LIVE! Cold Spring Men's Chorus sing in Brainerd tonight

Tonight, as a part of the 2010 Big Sing held in Staples, Minnesota, the Cold Spring Maennerchor sang in front of an audience of peers and judges as a part of the adjudication performance. In this first part of their mini concert they sing "Ave Maria" with Chad Middendorf, Marv Rothstein and Mike Fandel singing solos and as a trio answering the choir.

The second song included in their performance was "Who Are The Brave".

H. NEWS- APRIL AND/OR MAY, 2010 bill goede. cold spring, mn

CATS- I never thought I'd be writing about cats, but having recently acquired one, I'm surprised how they can grow on you.  As I'm writing this column, my new cat "Boots" is watching intently as I hunt and peck my way to a story about her and possibly why I decided to acquire a feline specie.

For a while, our daughter was here visiting us from Colorado.  She had 2 cats with her and one was always meowing and the other one said nothing.  The meowing got to me after a while and I silently said to myself, "I'll never have a cat in my house once they leave."  Well after they had departed, I didn't miss the meowing, but their daily company for my wife and I got to be a habit.  So in a moment of quietness, I decided that a well behaved cat would be good company for Mae and I.

When I told Mae of my plans, she was not that much in favor, but I went to the St. Cloud Humane Society to see what they had on hand.  Well to say the least, they had more cats and dogs than I could imagine.  After looking at many cats, kittens and pet food, I decided on a cat they called "Patches."  Patches is 1 year old, has been spayed, has some shots andappears in good health.  She does have white on the end of each foot, so I have re-named her "Boots." She weighs about 8 pounds, so when she jumps into your lap, you are well aware she has landed.  She likes to be scratched under her chin and is very good about her food and drink area and does her sand box duty very discreetly.

We haven't taken her in the van except for her ride home, so don't know what to expect.  We will worry about that later.  As of now, she has fit in with our daily ritual quite well and Mae seems to enjoy her company.  Especially when she's on Mae's lap and "purrs."
On occasion I do hear Mae talk to "Boots", so
I believe that Mae enjoys having her around.
I've been told that you can take a cat for a walk, but because of the cold winter weather, that has not been a factor as of yet.
I read once that it is hard to stay stressed when you have a sleeping cat on your lap.
If that statement is true, then owning a sleeping cat has its good points.  In general,
she is well groomed and has accepted the
"Goede Household" as a fairly liveable place to spend her 9 lives.  Again, in general, we(Mae & I) have adjusted to having a 1 year-old cat on board and would
recommend the same to other households
that may be thinking about keeping a cat.

TRIVIA-  The only part of the human body
which continues to grow throughout a person's life is the nose.

DigElog ROCORI One Year Ago: ROCORI Senior Participates in Mission Trip

In this story you will have the chance to meet Tracy Skluzacek, a senior at ROCORI High School. Skluzacek recently went on a mission trip to Kenya. She shares how mission trips sometimes are associated with negative thoughts by here peers, but that didn't stop her from having a great time on her trip. Mission trips are a great way to volunteer your time to those that may not have the same opportunities as you. Skluzacek also states, not only can you learn about other cultures on mission trips, but you can also learn so much about yourself. Thank you so much for sharing your story Tracy. Your selflessness and servitude illustrates wisdom beyond your years.

St. Cloud State's "Science Express" Visits The Land Of ROCORI

In this story you will get to see and hear about the new mobile science lab that travels through central Minnesota. Bruce Jacobson shares some information about the "Science Express" and how it positively impacts students around the area. He also discusses some of the groups that helped donate to the project, most notably Medtronic as they donated the mobile unit.

ROCORI students had the chance to use this fantastic learning tool first-hand. They are just a small number of kids that will be using the "Science Express" this year. When the tour wraps up, over 8,000 students will get the chance to learn more about science and potential scientific careers.
