After putting together a remarkable season in 2008, the ROCORI Spartans softball team looked to advance further into the playoffs in 2009. In the second round of the subsection playoffs, the Spartans matched up against Minnewaska. Both teams were scoreless after an inning, but the Spartans jumped on top in the second after a sacrifice fly by Shaunte Dwyer. The game was back and forth through the middle innings until ROCORI busted the game open in the fifth as they went on to win 13-3 in six innings.
