ROCORI Senior Participates in Mission Trip

In this story you will have the chance to meet Tracy Skluzacek, a senior at ROCORI High School. Skluzacek recently went on a mission trip to Kenya. She shares how mission trips sometimes are associated with negative thoughts by here peers, but that didn't stop her from having a great time on her trip. Mission trips are a great way to volunteer your time to those that may not have the same opportunities as you. Skluzacek also states, not only can you learn about other cultures on mission trips, but you can also learn so much about yourself. Thank you so much for sharing your story Tracy. Your selflessness and servitude illustrates wisdom beyond your years.

ROCORI Spartans Sports Preview- Boys Track

The Boys track team at ROCORI has seen record numbers in participation this year, and head coach Lance Johnson hopes those numbers will eventually translate into success. With almost twice as many students this year as he had last year, he feels that the team will be much more balanced. They will also be able to earn more points in all of the events because athletes can focus more on their strengths instead of being forced to participate in many, if not all of the events. In this story Coach Johnson will give us a preview to the 2009 season as well as tell us some of the many reasons why track is a great sport to participate in. Age 70

Richmond

October 19, 1938 – April 21, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for James J. Weber, age 70, who died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery, Richmond.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

ROCORI vs. Alexandria Girls Softball

The ROCORI Girls softball team is off to a fast start already in the 2009 season. Earlier this year, we caught up with head coach Brian Athmann who told us that his team could flat out hit. Not only can the team hit, they pitch well and play great defense, a combination that is sure to lead to success for the Spartans as they play against some of their difficult CLC opponents. ROCORI Boys Golf Team- Pre-season Update

In the Land of ROCORI, when we discuss some of the latest sports news, we often talk about the baseball team or the football team, or maybe even the softball team. In this story, you’ll hear from Boy’s Golf Coach Paul Court as he gives us a preview to the 2009 season. Last year, the team made a nice run in the section tournament. They gained a great deal of experience, which they hope can push them even farther this year. The team returns a solid core of players from last year, and there are many newcomers as well this year. Good Luck ROCORI Golf Team in the 2009 season. We hope to see you at the State Tournament.

Kenneth “Kenny” Cater * OBITUARY

Age 91

Cold Spring

May 27, 1917 – April 17, 2009

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in St. Cloud, MN for Kenneth “Kenny” Cater, age 91, who died Friday at the VA Medical Center.  A private family burial will be at 11:30 a.m. in the North Star Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  There will be a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

COZY CORNERS CAMP GROUND PRESENTS 26h ANNUAL HEART OF MN FISHING TOURNAMENT

If you happen to be in the are the weekend of June 13, 2009, Cozy Corners will be hosting the 26th Annual Heart of Minnesota Fishing Tournament. This annual event is a major fund raiser for the Richmond Civic and Commerce organization. Their goal is to promote business and enhance the well being of the greater Richmond Community.

The tournament is a catch and release style where all fish entries must to brought to the weigh station alive and once the fish are weighed they are released back into the lake. The Heart of Minnesota Fishing Tournament is a fantastic and family-friendly event. After a long day of fishing, what better way to unwind then to set up camp at Cozy Corners. ROCORI Spartans vs. Alexandria Cardinals Preview

The ROCORI Spartans Girls Softball team is off to a fast start this season as they whooped up on Fergus Falls in their season opener 11-0. On Tuesday April 14, 2009, the Spartans hosted Alexandria. The Cardinals were one of the CLC’s better teams last year, and heading into the game ROCORI knew they’d be in for a tough battle. Watch this sneak preview of the game, and be sure to tune in to DigElog ROCORI early next week for the rest of the highlights from the Spartans inner conference battle against Alexandria.
