The Dance Group - LITTLE KICKS Perform Tra La La

Earlier this month, ROCORI High School hosted the 16th annual Drumfest and Winterguard performances. Eleven drumlines nine winterguards performed this year. These great shows take many weeks of planning and a team of people to produce them. Organizing this great event takes a remarkable collaborative effort from so many individuals, and those who attended this weekend were treated to a fantastic show. In this story, we feature a full length performance from the ROCORI Just For Kicks Dance Studio. The Little Kicks performed Tra La La during the Winterguard intermission, and they were absolutely delightful. Please enjoy this delightful performance!

2009 ROCORI WinterGuard

ROCORI Varsity Boys Basketball vs Little Falls

The ROCORI Spartans boy’s basketball team has seen their season turn around as of late beating a tough Richfield team out of the Twin Cities. Last week, the Spartans battled the Little Falls Flyers in another difficult match up. The first time the two teams met, Little Falls could not buy a bucket from three-point range. However, on the Spartans home court things would be different, much different. ROCORI fell behind early despite great offensive performances from Ben Rausch, Scott Schroeder, and Scott Willenbring.

SECOND HALF

 

Even with the tough start, the Spartans only trailed by four at the half, but they were never able to get over the hump and take the lead from the Flyers in the second half. ROCORI squandered a great opportunity to move into sole possession of second place as they move toward the playoffs. Hopefully the Spartans can take comfort in the fact Little Falls gave them everything they had, and the Spartans still had a chance to walk away with a victory. We look forward to covering the team as they make their run into the post-season.  Final score: 57-63.

2009 ROCORI Alumni Basketball Tournament

Today was the 20th Annual ROCORI Alumni Basketball tournament held in Cold Spring, Minnesota.  16 teams participated that ranged back as far as 1987 and further.  This story shows highlights of a couple games and features the classes of 1987, 1998, 2002 and 2006.  We also caught Jerry Sparby, tournament coordinator, as he was dusting off the gym floor between games.

Today 16 teams are participating in the 20th Annual ROCORI Men's Basketball tournament in Cold Spring. This photo features the 1987 class against the class of 1998. Games go today and tomorrow in at the elementary school and the high school.

Age 91

Cold Spring

October 12, 1917 – February 14, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring for Leo M. Salzer, age 91 who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.   

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

ROCORI Varsity Girls Basketball vs Brainerd

The Girls Basketball team took the court against a tough Brainerd squad last Saturday. Early on, the Spartans fell behind due in part to the hot three-point shooting of the Warriors. Late in the first half, ROCORI made a nice run to trim what was a 26-point lead down to 14.

SECOND HALF

 

In the second half, the Spartans climbed back to within 11, but they were never able to get over the hump as the Brainerd Warriors topped the ROCORI Spartans 63-39.
