Here's another act from the "Friends of the Library Variety Show" that took place earlier this year.  In this act we'll see Kasi Stein, accompanied by Craig Kimmerle sing "Memory".  Stein's song will be interrupted by  none other than Cold Spring's own Bill Goede, who does a comic skit with Stein that culminates with Goede demonstrating some of his musical talents on the harmonica.

ROCORI Baseball vs St. Cloud Cathedral

After beating the Foley Falcons in ten innings, the Spartans were faced with the difficult challenge of taking on a fresh St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders team. To make matters worse, the Crusaders won the state tournament last year and were returning with nearly all of their starting players.

The Spartans came out aggressive on the bases and stuck to solid fundamental baseball. They kept the score close until the late innings. It would once again be Brian Hansen who would get a clutch hit late in the game to give the Spartans the lead. Watch all of the highlights of this game to see how the Spartans were able to knock off the defending state champs.

ROCORI City Update * June 25, 2008

In this version of the ROCORI Update, Rena Weber tells us about some complaints that the city has received in regards to Eagle Park. The first subject she addresses relates to an editorial that suggested there were no more eagles in Eagle Park. This is completely false, and just last week, DigElog ROCORI witnessed multiple eagles flying over the park. In fact, you can see them in this story! Another issue that the city has received complaints about is the growth of weeds in the Eagle Park prairie. The city asks that you please be patient with the land restoration project and that this issue will be taken care of. Lastly, for those folks that will be in town for the 4th of July, there will be fireworks on both the 3rd and 4th over Pleasant Lake.

EAGLE'S NEST IN EAGLE PARK, ROCKVILLE, MN

In this story, Larry Lahr has an important announcement about severe weather. The first part of his announcement should provide reassurance to the citizens of Cold Spring because the city has an excellent team of severe weather spotters that are called upon in case of emergency. The second portion of Larry’s message is equally, if not more important and it relates to the severe weather sirens. These sirens are to alert those that are OUTSIDE during severe weather and should NOT be relied upon if you are inside. If you are in your home when severe weather begins to roll into Cold Spring, please tune in to your radio, television or computer for details regarding the storm.

LOCAL SPOTTERS WATCH FOR HAZARDOUS WEATHER

Lastly, Dan Coughlin has a brief update about the water ban that is still in effect for the city of Richmond. He asks that citizens please continue to conserve water whenever possible for about another two weeks. ROCORI Baseball vs Foley

FIRST HALF OF GAME

Although school is out and the baseball season is over, DigElog ROCORI has all of the highlights from the ROCORI baseball season. In the opening round of the section tournament, the Spartans took on the Foley Falcons. As usual, the Spartans looked for a solid performance from senior pitcher Luke Vossen, and as usual he delivered. In this video, you’ll see part one of a two-part story, as this game went into extra innings. The Spartans were up against a dominant lefty from Foley, and it took exceptional pitching to simply keep them in the game.


LAST HALF OF GAME & EXTRA INNINGS

As ROCORI went into the sixth inning, they trailed the visiting Foley Falcons 3 - 0. Luke Vossen was pitching great, but the offense couldn’t get anything going. Fortunately, the bats would wake up just in time to prolong the Spartans’ season as they rallied to tie the game in the sixth. A crucial two-run single by Brian Hansen would help push the game into extra innings while Luke Vossen summoned Jack Morris’ 1991 game 7 spirit and pitched through the 10th inning for a victory. Walk N' Wheel Loop Ground Breaking

After a 18 months of fund raising, this past week the Cold Spring Walk n' Wheel Loop committee celebrated in a live video ground breaking ceremony.  In this story you'll here from a number of committee members about this wonderful community effort.  A part of the trail is expected to be completed before the end of July, 2008.  This is a great "Land Of ROCORI" story.

Age 71

Rockville

May 3, 1937 – June 22, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville, MN for Gilbert “Gil” Buchheit, age 71, who lost his courageous 16 year battle with cancer on Sunday at his home surrounded by his family and friends.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday (TODAY) and from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish prayers will be at  8:00 p.m.

Joseph Lieser (Obituary)

Age 65

St. Martin

March 10, 1943 – June 22, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Joseph “Joey” Lieser, age 65, who died Sunday at the Paynesville Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Martin Parish Hall in St. Martin.  Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.  Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond.

ROCORI Softball vs Milaca

In recognition of a very successful season by the ROCORI Spartan Softball ladies, here is a special ROCK VIDEO made using the game footage from their win against Milaca on May 27th, 2008.  This was one of those games where to Spartans lit up the field with their bats and held strong with their gloves.  Special tribute goes out to this year's Seniors and to Coach Brian Athmann and his coaching staff.
