The ROCORI Spartans were in action this past Tuesday against the Sauk Rapids/Rice Storm. ROCORI had lost their previous two conference games and looked to rebound against the Storm. Adam Meyer had 18 first half points to lead ROCORI and Sam Feldhage added in 19 for the game as ROCORI stomped the Storm. Brent Lashinski was the player to make a three pointer that put the Spartans over the century mark.

ROCORI vs Willmar boys swimming

The ROCORI Spartans boys swimming team took on the Willmar Cardinals in CLC action. The Spartans got out to a good start by winning the first event. The Cardinals controlled the swim meet from then on as they would take first place in the next two events. Devan Rien, a Freshman, led the way in the diving portion and also placed third in the 100 yard butterfly. Casey Barby and Joel Gregory also had strong performances for the Spartans.

August 2, 1948 – January 27, 2008

A Memorial Service will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN for Donald N. Peters, age 59, who died unexpectedly at his home from natural causes.  Deacon Joe Kresky will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery at a later date.

Relatives and friends may call from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.

Jaycees Chili Event Part Three

It’s back and now is the time to join the fun!  The Cold Spring Jaycees invites the public to enter their soup or chili favorites for the upcoming Soup & Chili Bowl to be held on January 26, 2008 from 5-11 PM at the Gluek Distribution Center.  Contestants will feature their own recipes and condiments for purchase in an exciting, festive atmosphere. The entry fee is free with an opportunity to win great cash prizes in each soup or chili category.  While the contest is taking place, attendees will enjoy the Old Time music of the Peter and Paul Wendinger Band that plays from 5-7:30 PM and the rock and roll sounds of Slip Twister from 8-11 PM.  Contestant space is limited; register today!

Christine R. Lahr - Obituary

age 92

Cold Spring

August 6, 1915 – January 24, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Christine R. Lahr, age 92, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish prayers will be at 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the
Christian Women.

River Lakes Stars vs Sauk Rapids/Rice boys hockey

The River Lakes boys hockey team traveled to Sauk Rapids to take on the Storm. It was a very competitive first period between the two teams and the Stars were first to score a goal. Jess Enquist scored a goal halfway through the first period. The second and third periods weren't so kind to the Stars as the Storm had 6 unanswered goals to pick up a CLC victory.
