This story involves a group of Cold Spring residents who took a tour of the Melrose Historical Society this past March with the intent of learning more about what it would take to create a similar organization in Cold Spring. You'll be surprised to find out what the flagship of the Melrose Historical Society is. This story demonstrates in a small way some of the work that has been done in forming the Cold Spring Area Historical Society.
Cold Spring Area Historical Society is Formed!!!
A group of Cold Spring area residents met over the past few months to discuss the possibility of forming an area historical society. During the first meeting held in November 2006, residents met at the Family Room of the Assumption Home to determine the interest from those in attendance. There was plenty of support for the idea and everyone agreed to proceed to the next level.
Jan Luthens, Administrator of Assumption Campus offered the services of Tony Nathe, an Independent Consultant who had interest in helping the program get started.
Additional discussion centered around a possible name which was
narrowed down to two choices, either the ROCORI Area Historical
Society, or the Cold Spring Area Historical Society. During additional
lengthy discussion,
was decided as the overall favorite and approved by a majority of those
in attendance. Tony Nathe will come up with a checklist of steps to
follow to ensure that we cover all the basis in forming the
organization. He will also make contact with the Minnesota Historical
Society.
