The Cold Spring Springers jumped out early with a five run first, a three run third, and a one run third inning. Pitcher Andy Bulson went 8 innings and picked up the win vs the St. Martin Martins. The Cold Spring Springers finally started hitting after struggling the majority of the season with the bats. They gave the home fans something to cheer about. Huls, Heying, Griffin, and Rick Burtzel each had 2 hits.

600th Story Published

It was September 1st, 2005 that DigElog ROCORI published its first story here.  Now, 22 months later, we take great pride and yet are humbled today to celebrate the publishing of our 600th story.  These stories have become an immediate legacy and historical reference for the "Land Of ROCORI".

Last night the Cold Spring Springers played a team made up of players out of the Twin Cities called the Hampton Cardinals.  It was a game where the Springers fell behind early and get it all together until the bottom of the 9th.  In this story Coach Dave Hinkemeyer provides an exclusive up close review of the game for DigElogROCORI.  Check back early next week for all 9 inning highlights of the game.

ROCORI BASEBALL WINS STATE CONSOLATION

After a heart breaking loss in the first round of the 2007 Minnesota High School Baseball State Tournament for the ROCORI Spartans, they showed their true character by winning the next two games and brought home the Consolation Trophy.  Watch here for DigElogROCORI total game coverage of all three games early next week.

It was a windy day to say the least at Cold Spring Ballpark. The ROCORI Spartans needed to win one of two games in order to advance to their second State Tournament in 2 years. They would waste no time as they jumped ahead in the third inning and kept the pressure on all game long. Pitcher Josh Engquist was lights out on the mound as the ROCORI Spartans would go on to win the Section 8 crown and are headed to the State Tournament yet again.

It was a beautiful day for Merchant's night at the ball park. The Cold Spring Springers hosted the St. Martin Martins in front of a very big crowd. The Cold Spring Springers jumped on top early with 5 first inning runs and never looked back. Heying, Burtzel, Griffin, and Huls each had a pair of hits.

ROCORI Baseball Team Prepares for STATE!

In this story you'll hear first hand from Coach Jeff Illies (ROCORI Graduate) about how he sees the team playing at this year's Baseball State Tournament.  Batting Coach John Rausch (ROCORI Graduate) talks about the Cold Spring/ROCORI tradition of baseball and how that becomes a part of every ROCORI team.  We also hear interviews with each of the Senior classmen on the team.

The first game of the tournament is Thursday, June 14th, 12:30 pm at Midway Stadium in St. Paul.  The Spartans will face the 7AAA Duluth East section champions.  Their next game will be played at 5:30 pm that afternoon at Midway Stadium if ROCORI wins or at Dick Siebert field on the campus of the University of Minnesota if they loose.

Hometown Pride Pageant 2007

In this story, Michelle Nyberg, Hometown Pride Pageant 2007 coordinator talks about this year's pageant. Sixteen young ladies have signed up to participate in this year's Cold Spring Hometown Pride Pageant.

The pageant has been expanded to include three different groups of participants: Ages 4-7 (Petite Princess), Ages 8-12 (Jr. Teen Princess), Ages 13-18 (Queen).  The first task each of the contestants must accomplish is to find sponsors who will contribute $50 to fund their participation in the pageant.  These sponsor dollars are used to finance all of the things needed to conduct the pageant.

During the next couple months, each of the candidates will be required to attend an etiquette workshop, a candidate barbecue with their families and participation in a Hometown Pride Service Project. The final judging will take place at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 27, at the Parish Center.  Each girl will be judged on their poise, personality, responses to interview questions and on formal attire.  The three winners of the pageant will be selected to represent Cold Spring in future parades and at other community functions and events during the coming year.

"I know from my oldest daughter's participation in a similar pageant that this is a wonderful learning experience for the girls.  Some of the things she learned included speaking in public, interviewing skills and an over-all increase in personal confidence." said Nyberg.

Pitcher Zach Femrite was unbelievable in his complete game 1 hit shutout.

Zach Femrite dominated from start to finish, and blew hitters away with the heat and rocked to sleep with the filthy slider. 16 strikeouts by pitcher Zach Femrite helped the Cold Spring Springers pick up a big win against the Sartell Muskies, a huge rival.

Meet Darren Heying

In our latest feature of "Meet the Springers" we get a chance to meet another ROCORI High School grad. First baseman Darren Heying has been a member of the Cold Spring Springers for his 9th season and is off to another good start. Darren is the starting 1st baseman for the club and also plays a little bit at third base when needed. He is a great team player and stresses the importance of setting goals each year.
