The Cold Spring Area Maennerchor will be conducting their Annual Dinner & Song Night at the Great Blue Heron restaurant in Cold Spring this Sunday, May 7th through Tuesday, May 9th. The Maennerchor will sing many of their old favorites as well as a number of fun new selections. Social hour begins each evening at 6:15 with dinner served at 7:30.
The Cold Spring Area Maennerchor is celebrating its 69th year this season. Their humble beginnings date back to 1937 when Bob Theis, Maurice O'Connor, Glanville Smith, Allie Rausch and a few others would get together occasionally to do a bit of singing. Their first performance was part of a school program in Rockville at the invitation of school teach Claire Yunik.
Over the past 20 years, the modern day Maennerhcor has performed internationally in Europe, the British Isles and in many parts of Canada. On April 28th of 2007, the Maennerchor will be host to the "Big Sing", the musical event of the year to be held at St. John's Abbey. The concert will involve over 350 men's voices from across the midwest. Get your tickets early, this concert will sell out.
Tickets for both the Dinner & Song Night as well as the Big Sing can be ordered by calling 320-597-9663.
