UNIQUE VISITORS SURPASS 9000

Earlier this week DigElog ROCORI went over the 9000 Unique Visitors mark and at the present number of daily visitors will reach 10,000 mark sometime during the month of April, 2006.  Unique visitors are counted based on daily visits by unique individual computer IP addresses to www.DigElogROCORI.com.  If one visitor views 4 or 5 DigElog stories, they are still counted as one (1) unique visitor.

A month ago, DigElogROCORI sent an email out to both Representative Larry Hosch and Senator Michelle Fischbach inviting them to contribute to DigElogROCORI.  The intent was to provide each of them a BLOG that would allow information from the Capital to flow directly to the voters here in the "Land Of ROCORI".

Representative Larry Hosch responded positively to the invitation and Senator Michelle Fischbach did not respond in any way to the 3 email invitations sent to her.

The ROCORI Boys Varsity Basketball team played one hard fought game yesterday at the State Tournament in Minneapolis. 

After dominating most of the game, Rocori fell behind St. Thomas Academy with only a couple minutes remaining.  The game went into overtime when St. Thomas missed a nail-biting final second shot and the buzzer sounded.

In overtime, the Rocori Spartans again took the lead but slowly sputtered as the tenacious Cadets kept their constant defensive pressure right to the very end.  The St. Thomas Cadets came back with a series of successful free throws and eventually put the game out of reach for the hard fighting Spartans.  It was a tough game to see either team lose.  Both teams deserved to be a part of this great event we call the State Boys Basketball Tournament.

Chamber Business & Community Showcase

This past weekend, on Saturday, March 18th, the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Business & Community Showcase.  This story highlights both the morning breakfast sponsored by the 20/20 Action Team and the Business Expo held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The event was held at Rocori High School in Cold Spring.  Over 50 business and community organizations exhibited at the show.  Hundreds of local families and residents attended both the breakfast and showcase.

DigElog ROCORI will be covering all of the ROCORI games at the Boy's Basketball State Tournament thanks to the sponsorship of Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union.  Stay tuned to game highlights that will be here on-line just hours after the final game whistle blows.

ROCORI will play St. Thomas Academy in the first game at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 22 in Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota Minneapolis Campus.

ROCORI WINS... next stop STATE TOURNAMENT

The final score in no way depicts the battle that took place this evening at Halenbeck Hall on the University of St.Cloud campus.  ROCORI went into half time trailing Willmar.  In the first half the Willmar Cardinals were hot and were sinking 3 point shots left and right.

The second half started out back and forth with Willmar holding the lead.  But slowly but surely the ROCORI Spartans inched their way back into the game and eventually tied Willmar right around the half way point of the second half. 

A major turning point in the game came when Willmar Cardinal Cory Hanson made a ball steal and drove to the basket to do a slam dunk.  The ball hit off the back of the rim and Rocori came up with the ball.  From that moment on... it was Rorcori's game.

6th Grade Class Learns Scientific Process

As a Forestry college student back in the early 1970s, I can remember a new approach they taught to raising high quality, disease resistant tree seedlings. It was called containerized seedlings.

In this story, our local 6th Graders are learning about the same concept and they're doing it using scientific process.

Watch as Mrs. Meyer's students prepare for an experiment that will demonstrate how seeds germinate, grow and develop under different environmental conditions.

Like I said, it was a part of my third year of college when I first studied this concept.  It's pretty amazing to see 11 and 12 year olds exploring the same topic in our local schools today.
