So you weren't able to make the game last Thursday night but you'd like to see how your nephew did on the basketball court.  You don't get the local cable television station but you do have access to the Internet.

What if you could download the game and be able to watch it on your PC, iPod or fancy cell phone?  What if the game was in a SPEEDYPLAY™ mode that reduced the viewing time down from two hours to 20 minutes? 

This is a 20 minute segment of the ROCORI and Brainerd game that took place on Thursday, February 23rd.  The 20 minutes is reduced down to less than 6 minutes using a speed and audio technology we have named SPEEDYPLAY™.  Take a look and see if this is the way sports might be repackaged in the future so you can watch them when, where and how you want to... or should we say the "DigElog Way!"

ROCORI Drumline 2006

The ROCORI Drumline began in 1976 and has been a member of the Minnesota Percussion Association since the organization was formed in 1992.  The 2005-6 Drumline has 28 members under the direction of Percussion instructor Dick Rausch.

In this story you'll see the 2006 ROCORI Drumline performance of "Through the Streets".  You'll follow the group as it journeys through the world of percussion, searching for a bit of color in life. 

Music selections include HeliChopter, written by Chris Crockarell, Sans Revival, written by Chris Brooks, Metric Lips, written by Bela Fleck and arranged by David Steinquest, and Madagascar, written by Julie Davila.  The drill design is by Creative Solutions.

Meet two new members of the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce. Grant Schwieters and Schwieters Chevrolet joined recently along with Beth Fiedler, new manager of the 1st National Insurance Agency.

Schwieters Chevrolet built their new facility on the east side of Cold Spring about two years ago.  They are a full service new and used car dealership.

Recently, the Kuss family visited Disney's MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida.  One of their favorite attractions was the show "Fantasmic!", a 25-minute extravaganza with a dreaming Mickey Mouse on a darkened island.

This 5 minute version of the show depicts some of the highlights including music, pyrotechnics and all kinds of special effects.  See Mickey battle a 40-foot-tall fire-breathing dragon who sets the waters around the island ablaze. 

Having visited Disney World over 15 years ago, this show really demonstrated how far technology has advanced over the years.  Leave it to Disney to always be on the cutting edge of techno-entertainment.  Moms & Dads and kids of all ages will enjoy this story.

This past weekend the ROCORI Winter Guard sponsored their Annual Spartan Winter Guard Home Show.  Eight Guard units competed at this years event.

This is our own ROCORI Winter Guard's exhibition performance that concluded the afternoon competition.  This years show is titled "BROKEN" with music by Seether featuring Amy Lee.

In this story, Jim Egan represents the Sauk River Chain of Lakes Lake Association and is speaking at a Cold Spring Area Chamber luncheon meeting.

The Sauk River has a very interesting history. Since the Europeans came in the mid 1800s, the river has been exposed to all sorts of man-made pollutants.  Raw sewage was many times dumped directly into the river.  It wasn't until the 1980s that folks started looking seriously at cleaning up the river.

The Sauk River Chain of Lakes Lake Association has played a key role in the river cleanup process.  Phosphorus levels have been reduced from the high of 1600 parts per billion in the mid 1980s, down to the current levels of 90 parts per billion.  The association has put together a long-term plan to help improve and manage the 20 watersheds that exist within the Chain.

The Rockville City Planning Commission met this week and created a separate committee that will look into updating and revising the present city shoreline ordinances.  You'll recall last week the Rockville City Council approved a temporary moratorium on development along lake shorelines in the city.  This task force will report back to the Planning commission their findings and recommendations.

The Planning Commission continued its process in reviewing and updating a number of zoning issues that deal with building permits and site construction ordinances

In Cold Spring the new Lions Sign is up and running sharing information about upcoming events.  A big thank you needs to be extended to the Lions Club, the City of Cold Spring and the local businesses who contributed to the project.  This is certainly a valuable asset to our community.

On a topic that affects both Cold Spring, Richmond, and Wakefield township, a joint police hiring committee this week made final recommendations in the hiring of two new police officers.  Some 58 applicants were considered for the positions, a total of 8 individuals were interviewed and the final two individuals selected will be submitted to the City Council for approval at their next meeting. 

This hiring is being done as a part of the new police protection agreement between Cold Spring and Richmond and also to replace a Police Sergeant who recently resigned in Cold Spring.

This coming week City Administrator Dan Coughlin and former representative Doug Stand will be down at the state capital meeting with legislators in order to assist the efforts to secure outside funding for the new Richmond Treatment plant.

In other Richmond news, the annual city audit continues to go forward.  This year the entire process  is being done in a timely manner and is going far more smoothly than last year according to the auditor.

The Minnesota Fire & Building Code  was recently adopted by the City of Richmond.  The city now has full authority to untilize the code in terms of future building inspections.

And finally, hats off to the township leaders of Munson, Wakefield and the city of Richmond, who have created a Joint Planning Group that continues to meet monthly, working towards the development of a orderly annexation process.  Their goal is to create a jointly adopted land-use plan that will provide guidelines for future development across the three governing bodies.
