Linda A. Moore

Age 58

Richmond

August 28, 1951 – August 29, 2009

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, MN for Linda A. Moore, age 58, who died Saturday at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond and from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. 

Linda was born in Belle Plaine, MN to Clarence and Arvilla (Laabs) Noll. She married Dave Moore on March 26, 1996 in New Ulm.  Linda loved to bake; when she did, she would share her ‘baked goods’ with everyone and anyone.  Taking care of her grandchildren brought her so much happiness.  Linda enjoyed gardening, sewing and was an avid “Price is Right” watcher!

Survivors include her husband, Dave; children, Julie (Dean) Fenske of Brainerd, Jennifer (Troy) Schwint of St. Cloud, James Zeig of Richmond and Amanda (Luke) Sizer of Clearwater; 7 grandchildren; her step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; Kyla Hailstone and Jennifer Menard-Hedlund; 5 sisters and 3 brothers; nieces and nephews; and her many VERY special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Alice E. Kascht

Age 63

St. Cloud

June 5, 1946 – August 28, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2009 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Alice E. Kascht age 63, who died Friday at St. Benedict’s Center in St. Cloud.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Martin Parish Center in St. Martin.  Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m.  Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond.

Alice was born in St. Martin to Alphonse and Amalia (Hondl) Kascht.  She was employed by the St. Cloud Hospital for 47 years.

Survivors include her brother, Melvin (Marian) of St. Martin; sisters, Virginia (Jerome) Torborg of Richmond, Bernice (Eugene) Heinen and Bernelda (Herman) Schmitz of Cold Spring; friend and co-worker, Ane Bauer of St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Werner.

Eleanor Hondl

Age 95

Cold Spring

December 20, 1913 – August 22, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Eleanor Hondl, age 95, who died Saturday at St. Benedicts Senior Community in St. Cloud.  Entombment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association and St. Julian’s Mission Group.

Eleanor was born in Farming, MN to Theodore and Gesina (Bloms) Buerman.  She married Anton “Tony” Hondl on June 6, 1939 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond.  Eleanor was a homemaker, mother to nine children, and employed at the Cold Spring Bakery for 17 years until her retirement.  She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Catholic Aid Association, St. Julian’s Mission Group and the Christian Women.

Survivors include her nine children, Florence Summers of Bellevue, NE, Edna (Florian) Rolfzen of Bellevue, NE, Arlene (Ken) Sargent of Lafayette, CA, Lois (Roy) Friendshuh of Elk River, Marvin (Carol) of New Hope, Edward (Dori) of Fridley, Ken (Ellie) of Cold Spring, Richard  (Mary) of Waite Park, Mary (Dave) Hansgen of St. Joseph; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony (April 20, 1993); parents; all seven of her siblings, John, Henry, Anna Kohorst, Monica Brinkman, Joseph, Mathilda, and Norbert; son-in-law, Bill Summers; daughter-in-law, Becky Hondl.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Elizabeth “Betty” Merten

Age 59

Marty (Pearl Lake)

March 5, 1950 – August 17, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty, MN for Elizabeth “Betty” Merten, age 59, who died Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Betty was born in Marty, MN to Aloys and Leona (Ficker) Merten.  She worked at Vision Ease for many years and retired in 1996 from the Cold Spring Granite Company.  Betty loved life, snowmobiling, happy hour and softball.  As a softball player, she was an ‘on target pitcher’, a mentor to anyone she played with or against, and an umpire.  Betty was an avid Minnesota Twin’s fan, and she loved spending time with family and friends.  Her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy!  She was a member of Holy Cross Parish.

Survivors include her siblings, Gene (Georgianne), Peter (Sandy), Theresa Berger all of Marty, Marty (Robert) Ahles of St. Cloud, Mary (John) Gertken of Cold Spring, Lorraine “Tuttie” Kotschevar of St. Joseph, Patricia (Harris) Shellito of Sabin and JoAnn (Kenneth) Krueger of Cold Spring; sister-in-law, Pam Schlagheck of Clearwater; 34 nieces and nephews  and 45 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James; sister, Dorothy “Dot”; brother-in-laws, Robert Berger and George Gustafson; and nephews, Jesse Gertken and David Berger.

Rosalie Bahr

Age 63

Richmond

October 12, 1945 – August 14, 2009

A visitation for Rosalie Bahr, age 63, of Richmond will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.   There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.  Rosalie died Friday at her home with her five daughters at her side, after a year long battle with cancer.   
 
Private services will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

Rosalie was born in New York Mills, MN to August and Nellie (Kallio) Nevonen. She married Dean Bahr in 1966. Together Rosalie and Dean were blessed with five daughters. 

Survivors include her children, Debra (Lee) Bahr-Helgen of St. Paul, Denise (Brady) Krupke of Paynesville, Michelle (Greg) Bahr-Drontle of Cold Spring, Lisa (Russ Pregler) Bahr of Kimball, and Julie (Sean) Warnberg of Cold Spring; ex-husband, Dean of Paynesville; siblings, Dr. Marvin Nevonen of Duluth, Louise (Bill) Carter of WA, and Elizabeth Keskitalo of CO; grandchildren, Evan and Luke Helgen, Kayla and Tiffany Krupke, Olivia and Noah Drontle, and Tyler and Gavin Warnberg; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rosalie has gifted her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.

Inez Othelia Monson

Age 96

Cold Spring

February 22, 1913 – August 13, 2009

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cold Spring, MN for Inez O. Monson, age 96, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Visitation will be from 9:00–11:00 a.m. in the church prior to the service Monday morning.  Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.

Inez was born in Minneapolis, MN to Peter and Indiana (Rodhammer) Pryts. She grew up in Seward Neighborhood of Minneapolis with four brothers and three sisters.  She graduated from South High in 1932.  Inez spent many years working at a photography studio.  She married Albert Monson on November 12, 1948 at Bethany Lutheran Church.  Inez loved music and sang in her church choir and with the Sweet Adelines.  Following Albert’s retirement the couple moved to their lake home near Richmond.  Inez enjoyed painting, rosemaling, gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles, picnics, boat rides with friends and family on the pontoon and traveling, including yearly trips to Hawaii. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Cold Spring.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Jerry Westby of Cold Spring; two granddaughters, Kari Westby of Saint Paul and Tami Westby of Richmond; brother-in-law, Leonard Monson; sister-in-law, Eleanore Calvelage; nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert (1999); parents and her 7 siblings.

Memorials are preferred to the Peace Lutheran Church.

The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to the caregivers and staff at Assumption Home, for the wonderful care they gave Inez.

Erma Schreifels

Age 95

Cold Spring

November 2, 1913 – August 6, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Erma Schreifels, age 95, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Christian Women and the St. Julian’s Mission Group Wednesday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

Erma was born in St. Nicholas, MN to John and Elizabeth (Johannes) Dockendorf. She married Anton Schreifels on June 24, 1936 in St. Nicholas Church, St. Nicholas, MN.  She was a homemaker all her life.  Erma enjoyed reading, playing cards and quilting.  She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Christian Women, St. Julian’s Mission Group, and St. John’s Mission Circle.

Survivors include her children; Eileen (Dick) Wenner of Richmond, Lynn (Mark) Vogt of Annandale; grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Hayley, Kelly, Kris, Karin, Kaye, Scott, and Steve; great-grandchildren, Todd, Leah, Paul, Brittaney, Erik, Austin, Grant, Ericka,, Adam, Kallie, Sophia and Olivia; great-great grandchild, Evan; sister-in-law, Delores Dockendorf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anton (1989); son, Jim (1995); and brother, Melvin.

Peter V. Gottwald

Age 53

Cold Spring

November 10, 1955 – August 5, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Peter V. Gottwald, age 53, who died peacefully Wednesday, surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

Peter was born in St. Cloud, MN to Vincent and Veronica (Miller) Gottwald. He married Jane (Hiemenz) Springer on April 26, 2009 in St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring.  Peter enjoyed spending time with his family.  He worked for Gold’n Plump Poultry as a night-time Live Haul Supervisor.  Peter loved to ‘tinker’ in his shop!  He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and was proud to be on the 1st Responder Team at work.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; children, Troy, Andrew, Corey (Cari), Shannon (Eric) Johnson, Barry, Gregory, Veronica, and Christopher; step-children, Josh (Angela) Springer, Ryan Springer, and Nathan Springer; step-mother, Donna Gottwald; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Linda (Bernard) Richter, Mary (Eugene) Leither, Virginia “Ginny” (Jerry) Thielen, Richard (Marilyn) Gottwald, and Charles “Charlie” Gottwald.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
