Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Eleanor Hondl, age 95, who died Saturday at St. Benedicts Senior Community in St. Cloud. Entombment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association and St. Julian’s Mission Group.
Eleanor was born in Farming, MN to Theodore and Gesina (Bloms) Buerman. She married Anton “Tony” Hondl on June 6, 1939 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond. Eleanor was a homemaker, mother to nine children, and employed at the Cold Spring Bakery for 17 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Catholic Aid Association, St. Julian’s Mission Group and the Christian Women.
Survivors include her nine children, Florence Summers of Bellevue, NE, Edna (Florian) Rolfzen of Bellevue, NE, Arlene (Ken) Sargent of Lafayette, CA, Lois (Roy) Friendshuh of Elk River, Marvin (Carol) of New Hope, Edward (Dori) of Fridley, Ken (Ellie) of Cold Spring, Richard (Mary) of Waite Park, Mary (Dave) Hansgen of St. Joseph; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony (April 20, 1993); parents; all seven of her siblings, John, Henry, Anna Kohorst, Monica Brinkman, Joseph, Mathilda, and Norbert; son-in-law, Bill Summers; daughter-in-law, Becky Hondl.
