Cold Spring

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Eileen Hommerding, age 66, who died peacefully, Sunday at her home. Entombment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery, Cold Spring, MN.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary with the St. Boniface Christian Women.
Eileen was born in Jacobs Prairie, MN to Clarence and Alvina (Theisen) Salzer. She married Ronald Hommerding on February 10, 1964 at St. James Catholic Church in Jacobs Prairie. She worked at Fingerhut and Animal Fair and she also babysat. Eileen retired from Cold Spring Granite Company Foundry in 2003, where she worked as a highlighter for 30 years. Her hobbies included softball, gambling and bowling. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, friend and relatives.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; children, Lisa (Tom) Hormann, and Laura (John) Proshek; grandchildren, Lianne, Dan and Katie Hormann, Travis and Jamie Proshek; sisters, Rita (Kenny) Kierzek and Mary (Stanley) Streit; father, Clarence Salzer; father-in-law, Alquin Hommerding; step-mother, Juletta Dingmann; and step-sisters, Mary Kay and Marlene.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alvina Salzer.
