Clarence H. “Tiny” Gertken

Age 87

Richmond

April 27, 1921 – January 31, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Clarence H. “Tiny” Gertken, age 87, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m.  Richmond American Legion Post #292 will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Knights of Columbus Tuesday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

Clarence was born in St. Cloud, MN to Tobias and Frances (Storkamp) Gertken. Tiny loved music and played in the St. Cloud Municipal Band.  He married Hanna O’Keefe on June 8, 1944 in Louisville, KY.  Clarence served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater.  Prior to being shipped over seas he taught in the Tracked Vehicle School at Fort Knox, KY.  He worked at International Harvester in St. Cloud for over 20 years as a mechanic.  He later worked at St. Cloud State University from 1970 – 1983 where he was in charge of the motorized equipment.  He also enjoyed mowing grass, building things, gardening and snowmobiling.  He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Richmond American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his children, Ed (Marlys) of Sauk Rapids, Carol F. Thompson of Lake Elmo, MaryAnn (Gregory) Johnson of Richmond and John S. (Joyce) of Eden Valley; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hanna (2007) and his parents.

Eric H. Vogt

Age 75

Cold Spring

January 4, 1934 – January 28, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Eric H. Vogt, age 75, who died Wednesday at his home from heart failure. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Eric was born in Richmond, MN to Leo and Christine (Thelen) Vogt. He married Nancy Spoden on July 25, 1953 in St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring.  Eric loved and cherished his family.  He was a butcher, meat cutter, and owner of Vogt Food Market.  He served his community as mayor, councilman, planning commission and being part of the deputy sheriff’s special unit.  Eric was proud of his community and always strived to help it continue to grow and prosper.  His positive attitude in life will be missed, but sure to be carried on in his children and grandchildren. Eric enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding, building projects and just being an all around handyman.  He was a member of St. Boniface Parish.

Survivors include his children, Dave (Donna), John (Sandy), Sandy Vogt Storms; brother, Denis (Pat);  grandchildren, Tammy (Shawn) Garding, Amy (Joel) Theis, Christina (Nic) Stang, Ryan (Becky) Storms, Eric and Amber Vogt; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby, Merideth, Alayna, Courtney, Abby and Savannah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (2006); granddaughter, Shelly Storms; parents; brother, David.

Edwin M. Torborg

Age 85

Richmond

January 10, 1924 – January 22, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Edwin M. Torborg, age 85, who died Thursday.  Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m.  and the Richmond American Legion #292 will pray at 8:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, and Catholic Aid Association Sunday evening.

Edwin was born in Richmond, MN to Henry and Mary (Hannekan) Torborg. He married Margaret Stommes on June 16, 1947 in St. Nicholas Church, St. Nicholas, MN.  Edwin loved spending time with his family.  He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne during World War II.  Edwin was a life long farmer and owner and operator of Torborg Manufacturing where he made and fixed many things from television antennas to snow blowers.  In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and telling stories.  He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid Association, Richmond American Legion #292 and the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery Committee.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 _  years, Margaret; children, Rose Torborg, Jim (Joyce) Torborg, Paul Torborg, Mary (Rick) Winter, Helen (Russ) Prill and Sue (Daryl) Trautmiller; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Margaret Worm, Meinrad (Del) Torborg, Rose Schleper and Bob (Shirley) Torborg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; sisters Agnes Geers and Ann Nolan; brother, Raymond Torborg.

Hildegarde Hansgen

Age 85

Richmond

July 27, 1923 – January 18, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Hildegarde Hansgen, age 85, who died Sunday.  Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Christian Women, Golden Smiles Senior Citizens, Catholic Aid Association, Daughters of Isabella, and the Mission Club-Maria Goretti on Tuesday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

Hildegarde was born in Farming Township, MN to John and Anna (Behnen) Ramler. She married Everett M. Hansgen in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond.  Hildegarde loved and cherished her family.  She was a postal carrier in Cold Spring and was the Postmaster in Richmond for many years.  She was a bus driver for Richmond Bus Service and she enjoyed fishing and playing cards.  She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Aid Association, Christian Women, Daughters of Isabella and the Mission Club-Maria Goretti.

Survivors include her children, Nick (Diane) Hansgen, Dr. Diane Hansgen (Ted Ahlbrecht), Debra (Bruce) Cunningham, David (Mary) Hansgen, Dan (Beth) Hansgen, Denise (Brian) Kurowski, Everett Hansgen, Jr. and Jean (Don) Olmscheid; 20 grandchildren; sisters, Marcy Pivic, Erma (Vernon) Theisen, Edith Stein, and brother, Cyril (Darlene) Ramler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett (1963), parents; daughters, Jackie Wenner and Joan Goebel; brothers, Walter and Art Ramler and one grandson.

David Berger

Age 41

Pearl Lake

March 17, 1967 – January 9, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake, MN for David Berger, age 41, who died Friday. 

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Church.  Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home.

David was born in St. Cloud, MN to Robert and Theresa (Merten) Berger. He loved spending time with his daughter and attending her swim meets.  Any day David could hunt or fish was a good day.

Survivors include his daughter, Morgan; mother, Theresa; brother, Dan (Shelly) and their children, Chance and Aubrey; many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (2006).

Delores Hansen

Age 71

Waite Park, formerly of Cold Spring

April 14, 1937 – January 4, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Delores Hansen, age 71, who died Sunday at the Sterling Park Health Care Center, Waite Park.  Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Friday morning in the Marian Chapel of St. Boniface Church.  Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.

Delores was born in St. Paul, MN and raised by John and Mary Hansen.  She loved visiting with family and friends, reading, cross word puzzles, cards, yahtzee and was a lover of animals-especially horses.  She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Waite Park and formerly of St. Boniface Parish in Cold Spring.

Survivors include her aunts, Rose Schwegel and Mary Ann Terwey; uncles, Willie Hansen and Lawrence Hansen; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 11 aunts and uncles.
