Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Larry P. Minnerath, age 88, who died Wednesday at this home. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus, Cold Spring American Legion and VFW.
Larry was born in Cold Spring, MN to Peter and Elizabeth (Schmitt) Minnerath. He married Clara Blonigen on September 6, 1955 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond. Larry served in the Civilian Conservation Core Camps and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked in the road construction business most of his life. Larry founded Minnerath Construction in 1955 and was self-employed until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends at his riverfront home. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Knights of Columbus, Cold Spring American Legion, VFW and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his children, Doris of Fairfax, VA, Ione (Gordon) Schmitt of Cold Spring, Mary (Paul) Hastings of St. Cloud, Sharon (Michael Baschky) of Shoreview, Loren of Cold Spring, Dale (Sylvia) of Sartell, Kathy (Fallou) Diaby of Edina; 17 grandchildren; siblings, Roman (Frances), Celine Hansen, Betty (Leon) Zwack, Alfred (Toby) and Renee Ressemann; sister-in-law, Veronica Minnerath; former sister-in-law, Rosemary Minnerath.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara (1999); son, Mark (1982); infant daughter, Grace; siblings, Pauline Bauer, Marie, Christine, Daniel and Jerome.
