Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas, MN for Michael M. Rausch, age 78, who died suddenly at his home on Monday. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary with the St. Nicholas Men’s Society, Catholic Aid Association, Knights of Columbus and St. Cloud Aeire 622 on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Michael was born in St. Nicholas, MN to Mike and Wilhelmina (Stommes) Rausch. He married Irene Koetter on July 1, 1953 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Roscoe, MN. Michael loved and cherished his family. Michael farmed the family farm until his retirement in 1987 when he moved to Cold Spring where he continued his favorite hobbies of welding and fishing. He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, traveling, telling jokes and watching his kids and grandkids play ball. He was a member of St. Nicholas Parish, St. Nicholas Men’s Society, Catholic Aid Society, St. Cloud Aeire 622 and a member of the local Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Irene; children, Dennis (Karen), Diane (Ron Christen), Ken, Rick (Mary), Kathy (Lane) Benesh and Arlan (Cindy); 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Rousselange.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola Ashfeld, Stella Gillitzer and Bernadette Gillitzer.
