Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2008 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Marcella Spohn, age 95, who died Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Golden Smiles, American Legion Auxiliary, Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association.
Marcella was born in Avon, MN to Theodore and Rose (Micklish) Hoeschen. She married Benedict Spohn on August 19, 1941 in St. Joseph’s Church, Waite Park, MN. Marcella loved and cherished her family. She was a homemaker and worked hard on the farm along side her husband. Marcella was a seamstress, enjoyed her vegetable garden, cooking, bingo and playing cards. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Christian Women, American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Aid Association.
Survivors include her children, Charles (Ann) of MO, Kenneth (Betty) of Richmond, James “Pete” (Barb) of Richmond, Shirley Scott of CO, Mary (Ken) Farmer of GA and Mark (Linda) of AK. 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benedict (February 21, 1970); parents; brothers, Ralph, Robert, Sylvester, Ted, Jr., and Eugene; sisters, Verena Towsend, Julie Hausworth, Rita Peterson, Addie Hoeschen, Colie Bruemmer and Bede Reitmeier.
