Loretta Olmscheid

Age 66

Apple Valley formerly of St. Martin

November 18, 1941 – May 30, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Loretta “Kraut” Olmscheid, age 66, who died at her home from natural causes.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Martin Parish Center.  Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Catholic Aid Association on Monday evening.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond.

Loretta was born in St. Martin, MN to Bernard and Rosa (Garding) Olmscheid.  She worked for Pickwick-a record company, from many years.  Loretta graduated from St. Catherine’s School of Nursing in 1992 and worked at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital retiring in May 2007.  She enjoyed her family, friends and sports.  Loretta was a member of St. Martin Catholic Aid Association, the Eagles Club and was the president of the Minneapolis USBC (United States Bowling Congress).

Survivors include her family, Mary Jo Kelly of Apple Valley, Eleanor (Jerome) Mohs of St. Cloud, Tillie (Norm) Wehlage of Meire Grove, Monica (David) Vig of Coon Rapids, Lu (Orv) Brang of New Munich, Ginny (John) Dingman of St. Joseph, Val (Glen) Poepping of Cold Spring, Clancey (Joan) of St. Martin, Linda (Joe) Roehrl of Redwood Falls, Alvie (Joyce) of Roscoe and Mary (Ken) Hiltner of Albany; sister-in-law, Joan Olmscheid of St. Cloud; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sylvester; nephew, Mark Olmscheid and great nephew, Isaac Funk.

Esther Schoenberg

Age 87

Cold Spring

February 25, 1921 – May 29, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Esther Schoenberg, age 87, who died Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Entombment will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  St. Boniface Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday.

Esther was born in Spring Hill, MN to John and Agnes (Humbert) Loehr. She married Arthur Schoenberg on June 9, 1941.  Esther loved and cherished her family and spending time with friends.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidery, baking and playing cards - solo, 500 and cribbage.  She was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the Christian Women.

Survivors include her; children, Carol (Bob) Crane of Anoka, Allen of Coon Rapids, Sharon (Pat) Timp of Albany and Earl (Irene) of Sartell; grandchildren, Bob, Bryan and Bruce Crane, Michele Timp-Pilon, Cheryl and Stacy Timp; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Ellen Isaacson of Sartell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alice (Pete) Williams, Rose Schoenberg, Lillian Schoenberg and Elmer Gerding.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art (1999); daughter, Ruth (2007); parents; brothers and sisters, Edwin, Leo, Susan Novitzki and Marie Binczik.

Marcella Spohn

Age 95

Richmond

January 4, 1913 – May 22, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2008 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Marcella Spohn, age 95, who died Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.  Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Golden Smiles, American Legion Auxiliary, Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association.

Marcella was born in Avon, MN to Theodore and Rose (Micklish) Hoeschen. She married Benedict Spohn on August 19, 1941 in St. Joseph’s Church, Waite Park, MN.  Marcella loved and cherished her family. She was a homemaker and worked hard on the farm along side her husband.  Marcella was a seamstress, enjoyed her vegetable garden, cooking, bingo and playing cards.  She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Christian Women, American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Aid Association.

Survivors include her children, Charles (Ann) of MO, Kenneth (Betty) of Richmond, James “Pete” (Barb) of Richmond, Shirley Scott of CO, Mary (Ken) Farmer of GA and Mark (Linda) of AK. 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benedict (February 21, 1970); parents; brothers, Ralph, Robert, Sylvester, Ted, Jr., and Eugene; sisters, Verena Towsend, Julie Hausworth, Rita Peterson, Addie Hoeschen, Colie Bruemmer and Bede Reitmeier.

Stanley Smith

Age 51

Rockville

February 18, 1957 – May 19, 2008

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville, MN for Stanley Michael Smith, age 51, who died unexpectedly at his home.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Friday morning in the Church in Rockville.  Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.

Stanley was born in Millington, TN to Mathias “Snuffy” and Doris (Schneider) Smith.  Stanley worked for Burlington Northern for many years.  He enjoyed hunting fishing and baseball. 

Survivors include his parents, Snuffy and Doris of Rockville; brother, Matthew of WA, Kim (Al) Schneider of St. Cloud, Kelly (Don) Schneider of St. Cloud; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Jr. and Lauren Smith, Eric and Hillary Schneider and Kate Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Frances Schneider and Stanley and Louisa Smith.

Wayne Schreifels

Age 42


St. Cloud


May 29, 1965 – May 14, 2008



Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at  
St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Wayne Schreifels,  
age 42, who died Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Inurnment will  
be at a later date. Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday (TODAY) and from
9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.   
Catholic Aid Association will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish  
Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.

Wayne was born in Paynesville, MN to Robert and Alice (Johnson)  
Schreifels.  He served in the United States Army for three years  
stationed in Mainz, Germany.  Wayne was a self employed carpet layer  
prior to his motorcycle accident in 1995.  He enjoyed playing Texas  
Holdem, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with family and  
friends and his beloved dog Buddy.  He was a member of the Catholic  
Aid Association.



Survivors include his parents, Bob and Alice of Cold Spring; brothers,
  
Warren & Lisa along with nephew, Blake and niece, Paige of Rochester,  
Timothy of Bemidji and Adam of St. Louis Park; grandmother, Loretta  
Schreifels of Cold Spring.



He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray W. and Isabel  
Johnson and Ben Schreifels.

Age 92

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 at
Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake, MN for Leander Matthew Wicker,
age 92, who died Sunday at his home.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery. 
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday
and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Holy Cross Church, Pearl Lake.  The
Cold Spring Area Maennerchor will sing at 6:00 p.m. and Parish Prayers
will be at 6:30 p.m. followed by a rosary the Knights of Columbus and Catholic
Aid Association at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Arrangements were
entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Leander was born in Pearl Lake, MN to Pius and Eva (Schreiber)
Wicker. He married Walburga Kunkel on June 5, 1943 in Holy Cross Catholic
Church, Pearl Lake.  Leander currently owned and operated Wicker's Whispering Pines
Resort.  He retired from dairy farming and enjoyed, gardening, cooking,
baking and visiting with friends and campers.  He was a member of Holy Cross
Parish, Knights of Columbus and Cold Spring Area Maennerchor. Survivors include his children, Richard P. (Gladys) Wicker of
Litchfield, Robert J. (Kathy) Wicker of Cavalier, ND, and Wanda L. Wicker of St.
Augusta; grandchildren, Shannon (Bretta) Wicker of Rockville, Nicole (Greg)
Valley of St. Cloud, Mike Wicker of Glendale, AZ, Stacy (Tony) Peterson of
Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Kaitli Wicker, James Wicker, Elle Wicker,
Ashley Valley, Logan Valley, Coleton Valley, Brandi Rose Valley and Lauren Peterson .
He was preceded in death by his wife, Walburga; parents; grandson, Shawn Wicker; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
