Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Gerald “Jerry” P. Sand, age 62, who died Monday at the Paynesville Area Hospital. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY) and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary lead by Diann’s sister, Alice and sister-in-law, Julia and the Catholic Aid Association. The Richmond American Legion will have a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. followed by a “celebration of Jerry’s life” ceremony afterwards.
Jerry was born in New Munich, MN to Paul and Dorine (Roering) Sand. He married Diann Blasius on June 14, 1969 in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond. Jerry was a well-known carpenter and woodworker in Central Minnesota. His attention to detail and creativity with special and unique projects is what he will be remembered most for. Jerry enjoyed fishing and being among great friends and family. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Aid Association, Army Reserves and Richmond American Legion.
Survivors include his family, Diann, Todd, Angie and Allen Duus; parents, Paul and Dorine Sand; brothers, Boniface (Bunny) Sand of Richmond and Michael Sand of Hewitt; sisters, Betty Klaphake of Albany and Marion Nelson of Alexandria.
Diann and Jerry Sand want to thank all the nurses at the Paynesville Area Hospital for the love, care and support shown to us throughout the past year. As special THANK YOU to Bryanna Kollmann for the wonderful bedside care and love at the end of his life.
