Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake, MN for Mathias R. “Matt” Koltes, age 81, who died Sunday at the Assumption Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring and from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Holy Cross Church in Pearl Lake. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Catholic Aid Association, St. John’s Men’s Society of Pearl Lake, Cold Spring Knights of Columbus #5344 and the Kimball American Legion #261 at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Matt was born in St. Joseph Township, MN to Joseph and Mary (Watry) Koltes. He married Rosemary “Rosie” Theisen on May 20, 1950 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pearl Lake, MN. Matt served in the Unites States Army during World War II. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and farmed his whole life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, gardening, spending time in his orchard, traveling and most of all, his family. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Catholic Aid Association, Cold Spring Knights of Columbus #5344, Kimball American Legion #261, St. John’s Men’s Society of Pearl Lake and NARVRE.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rosie; children, Bernie (Karen), Jerry (Linda), Sue (Dave) Gill, Keith (Deb), Marlene (Mark) Goenner, Patty (Ray) Loehlein, Mary (Brian) Gohmann, Audrey (Jim) Gustafson and Bob (Melanie); 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Beckrich and Mary (Meinie) Nies; sister-in-law, Ione Koltes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Samuel; siblings, Theresa, John, Ben, Veronica, Aloysious, Margaret, Ann, Joe and Andrew.
