Cold Spring
October 10, 1931 – February 16, 2008
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Daniel “Dan” Salzer, age 76, who died Saturday after a six month battle with Mesothelioma, an asbestos cancer. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 p.m. followed by the St. Joseph Society Monday evening.
Dan was born in Cold Spring, MN to George and Bertha (Merdan) Salzer. He married Rosemary Zwilling on September 25, 1958. Dan loved and cherished his family and will be most remembered for his friendly smile and outgoing personality. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and St. Joseph’s Society.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie; children, Deb (DuWayne) Cottew, Steve (Janet) Bob (special friend, Christine), Jerry (Carla), Larry (Shelly) and Barbie (Bob, Jr.) Holthaus; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Pat); sisters, Joan (Norbert) Schramel, Jeanie (Kirk) Smith and Pat (Bill) Kimble; brother-in-law, Erwin Schmitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson; sisters, Mary Ann Schmitz and Delores Schlangen. Dan’s family would like to thank the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice and Coborn’s Cancer Center along with the St. Boniface Parish members and staff. We would like to give a special thanks to our friends and family for all their support during this difficult time.
