Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Josephine “Jo” Herges, age 89, who died Thursday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery in Pearl Lake, MN.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond (151 Oakwood Ave. SE) and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Narthex of St. Boniface Church. Cold Spring Area Maennerchor will sing at 7:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.
Jo was born in St. Martin, MN to John and Elizabeth (Hoppe) Hagemann. She married Edmund L. Herges on May 30, 1939 in St. Martin, MN. Jo was co-owner of Herges Meat Market with her husband for many years. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, crocheting, quilting, card playing, ‘wintering’ in Arizona and cooking for family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Ed; children, Kathy (Jerry) Schwieters of Sartell, Eileen (Bill) Kampa of St. Francis, Lynn (Herb) Latterell of Roseville, Doris (Denis) Tadych of Coon Rapids, Mary Lou (Guy) Holt of Becker, Gary (Deb) of Alexandria, Rick (Mary Kay) of Rochester and Jayna (Jose`) Chapa of Maple Grove; sister, Maria Rothstein of Waite Park; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Hagemann and sister, Bertha Schoenberg.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
