Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Philomene ìPhilî Salzer, age 81, who died Saturday at St. Benedicts Center, St. Cloud. Burial will be in the St. Boniface parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. The Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Phil was born in Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Anna (Dingmann) Kohorst. She married Leo Salzer in St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin, MN. Phil traveled by train at the age of three from Canada to Farming, Minnesota. She worked in food service at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud State University, St. Benedict Convent and the Veteran Administration Hospital. Phil and Leo were in a dairy farm ëpartnershipí until 1994 when they moved into Cold Spring. She loved to spend time with her family, bake, cook and embroider many different things. She is a member of St. Boniface Parish and Christian Women.
Survivors include her husband, Leo of Cold Spring; children, Mike (Joyce) of Barnum, Don of Sartell, Myrna (Chuck) Loso of Willmar, Linda (Terry) Loso of St. Joseph, Laura (Paul) Hemmingson of Sioux Falls, SD and LeRoy (Sandy) of Cold Spring; sister, Lenore Drontle of Cold Spring; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edwin; sisters, Adeline Burg, Marcella Gruber, Sr. Johnette, Marina Klehr; grandchildren, Chad Salzer, Kyle Loso and Jessie Salzer.
