Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Lidwina Kemper, age 92, who died Friday at the Pine Haven Care Center in Melrose after a long courageous battle with Alzheimerís. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond (151 Oakwood Ave. S.E.). Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Golden Smiles, Catholic Aid Association, Christian Women, and St. Judeís Mission Group at 4:30 p.m.
Lidwina was born in Richmond, MN to Jacob and Catherine (Braegelmann) Schlangen. She married Severin (Sep) Kemper on September 14, 1938 in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Richmond, MN. Lidwina was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, quilting, canning, sewing and playing cards. We will never forget her gentle soul and soft spoken manner. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Christian Women, Catholic Aid Association, and St. Judeís Mission Group.
Survivors include her children, Pat (Earl) Backes of Richmond, Kathy Mackedanz of Richmond, Hilde (John) Tschumperlin of Richmond, Elaine Place of Rockville, Diane (Don) Brinkman of Albany, Jan (Denny) Hennen of St. Cloud, Joani (Jerry) Tippelt of Rockville, Cliff (Mary) of St. Cloud, John (Deb) of Cold Spring, Mary (Ron) Kron of Richmond and Ruth Filburn of Topeka, KS; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ben (Amanda) Schlangen of Richmond; sisters, Cele (Ray) Silvers of Richmond, Sister Lucille Schramel of St. Cloud and Sister Wilma Schlangen of Cottonwood, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Irene Schlangen of Richmond, Isabel Schlangen of Cold Spring, Delores Kemper of Waite Park and brother-in-law, Sylvester (Betty) Theis of Cold Spring.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Severin (1998); siblings, Sr. Florentine Schlangen, Sr. Cyrilla Schlangen, Paul Schlangen and Theresa Theis; grandchildren, Susan Brinkman and Matthew Kemper and great-grandchild, Jessica Backes.
