Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Michael A. Merten, age 77, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Richmond Fire & Rescue Department at 7:30 p.m. Thurs. evening.
Mike was born in St. Joseph, MN to Ted and Adeline (Merkling) Merten. He married Yvonne Bohnen on June 18, 1955 in St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring, MN. Mike was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the Cold Spring Granite Company after over 40 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering in his workshop. The projects and gifts that came out of his workshop, truly came from the heart and in turn give true meaning to the words ìfamily treasure.î He will be greatly missed. Mike was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; children, Chuck (Debbie) of Richmond, Michelle (Bob) Meyer of Paynesville, Cindy (Tim) Peters of Clear Lake, Tina (Bob) Kohnen of Roscoe, Cheri (Mike) Pitschka of Richmond and Tim (Emily) of Cold Spring; 10 grandchildren, Aaron, Jen, Mandy, Shane, Ashley, Sarena, Sierra, Blake, Spencer and Austin.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herbert.
