Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3,
2006 at Mary of Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville, MN for
Magdaline “Maggie” Gross, age 70, who died Tuesday at the Good Shepherd
Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, after her courageous battle with cancer.
Maggie was very strong and brave during the past two years since being
diagnosed with cancer. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4p.m. Monday and from 9 – 10
a.m. Tues. morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish
Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Christian Women and Red
Hatters at 7:30 p.m.
Born on March 25, 1936 in Eveleth, MN, Maggie was the second
youngest of 11 children born to Anton and Ann (Musich) Nemanick. She
grew up in West Eveleth and attended Junior College there. She
graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1957. Maggie’s first
teaching job was in Wayzata. In 1959 she married James Gross. Maggie
and Jim lived in Rockville all their life and raised their three
children, Jim, Ann Marie and Susan. She taught at John Clark Elementary
School in Rockville for 32 years before retiring in 1992. Maggie is a
member of Mary of Immaculate Conception Parish, Christian Women and the
Red Hatters.
Maggie was known for her cooking, baking, sewing, gardening,
quilting and crafting, playing cards and hosting wonderful neighborhood
get-togethers.
Maggie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim; beloved
children, Jim of Davenport, IA, Ann Marie (Pete Keely) of St. Paul and
Susan (Tom Kampa) of Shoreview; one precious granddaughter, Addison
Keely; sisters, nieces, nephews and many many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ann Skerjance, Carol Skoff and Mary Burbank and brother Anton Nemanick.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of the Good
Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids and Heartland Hospice, who cared
for Maggie during the last months of her life.
Maggie was a generous and loving woman who touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be directed to the John Clark Elementary School, Mary
of Immaculate Conception Church or the American Cancer Society.
