Alex Kofoed is a 2003 graduate of ROCORI High School. He is currently a fifth year senior at St. Johns University. Alex is a member of the 2007 Johnnies football team coached by legendary Head Coach John Gagliardi. Alex has traveled a long road to becoming the leading man at SJU. He recently played against another RHS grad, David Sauer. David has been the starting quarterback at St. Thomas, St. John's biggest rival. Both David and Alex have led storied careers at both the high school and collegiate levels.

ROCORI vs Detroit Lakes Section Semi final

It was a long trip for the ROCORI football team as they traveled to Detroit Lakes to take on the undefeated Lakers. It was a hard fought game from start to finish as the Spartans would answer everything the Lakers had. Nick Schneider was himself rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown in the first half but the Spartans were trailing by 7 as the halftime horn sounded.

In the second half of play the Spartans once again found themselves down by two scores. But, like last time, they rallied and actually had a chance to tie the game. The stars weren't aligned and the Spartans eventually lost. ROCORI had a chance to tie it late in the game but a blown call by the officials ended any sort of hope for ROCORI and its Spartan Nation.

The ROCORI Spartans looked to bounce back from a tough loss last week and win a road playoff game against the Fergus Falls Otters. Coach Theisen emphasized team pride in his pre-game speech because that’s exactly what it would take to beat the number three seeded Otters. Watch this story and see all the first half highlights of this tough sectional battle.

The ROCORI Spartans jumped out to an early lead, but turnovers would give the Otters a chance to get back in the game.  In order to steal a victory on the road, the Spartans would have to overcome the adversity and play with pride. Watch the second half highlights as the Spartans were able to take care of business and advance to play at Detroit Lakes this Saturday at 7 p.m.

Without star running back Nick Schneider and pitiful field conditions, the ROCORI Spartans would be in for a difficult night against the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles. Although the Eagles were winless on the season, they put up a strong fight in this mid-week football game. Watch the highlights and see if the Spartans were able to come out victorious against the Eagles.

With the rain coming down harder and the field conditions resembling a pigpen more than a football field, the game was less about skill and more about which team would make the least amount of mistakes. It was nearly impossible to keep solid footing and it would ultimately cause both offenses to struggle. Watch and see if the Spartans were able to pull off a victory in the mud on the road.
