Tri-Offensive Player of the Week
Saint John's University senior quarterback Alex Kofoed (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) was 25 of 37 passing for 337 yards and five touchdowns as No. 3/4 Saint John's defeated Gustavus Adolphus 40-0 on Saturday, Oct. 13 in St. Peter. Kofoed's passing performance broke two school records formerly held by current Carleton head coach Kurt Ramler (1993-96). Kofoed set the school's all-time mark for touchdown passes (88) with his fifth of the game on a 13-yard reception to Aaron Blackmore with 12:14 left in the third quarter. In addition, he recorded his ninth career 300-yard passing game, setting a new school record. Kofoed now needs 36 yards passing to become the MIAC's all-time leading passer in conference games, currently owned by former Bethel quarterback Scott Kirchoff (1999-03). Kofoed has completed 67.6 percent of his passes (140 of 207) for 1,744 yards and 20 touchdowns and leads the MIAC in passing efficiency (164.3) so far this season.

Tri-Offensive Player of the Week
University of St. Thomas junior quarterback David Sauer (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) threw for three TDs, had a career-best 441 passing yards, had no interceptions and ran for a TD in Saturday's 50-33 comeback win over Augsburg. Sauer completed 35-of-46 passes and rallied UST from a 33-23 deficit in the third quarter as he led four scoring drives of 64, 39, 70 and 60 yards in a game-closing 27-0 flurry. He completed 17-of-20 passes in the second half. He also rushed for 30 yards to finish with 471 yards of total offense. He guided a UST offense that rolled up 33 first downs and 610 yards of offense. Sauer moved over 3,400 passing yards in 16 career games.

Coming off a tough loss to the Sauk Rapids Storm last week, the ROCORI Spartans would not have things any easier as their tough Central Lake Conference schedule grinds to an end. On Friday October 12, the Spartans took on the Willmar Cardinals who were 5-1 on the season. If ROCORI’s hopes of controlling their own destiny were to stay alive, a victory was crucial. Watch this story and see all of the highlights from the game.

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead in the first half and cruised into the locker room with a narrow lead. It would take a whole lot of heart and teamwork to beat gritty Willmar Cardinals. Watch the second half highlights and see if the Spartans offense could keep clicking and if the defense could hold Cardinals off the scoreboard.

It was homecoming for the ROCORI Spartans as they looked to battle their opponents from just across the river, the Storm of Sauk Rapids. The field was wet and play was sloppy as the teams battled for the ever-important divisional supremacy.  This story features all of the highlights from the game as well as a pre-game pep talk from a ROCORI graduate that is now part of the Minnesota Vikings organization.

Even though the Spartans fell behind in the first half and struggled mightily with time of possession, they were set to get the ball first in the second half, and with their high powered offense, a comeback seemed very possible. Coach's Homecoming Interview

DigElog ROCORI had the chance to catch up with the R.H.S. football coach after the Spartans last practice before the big homecoming game. Coach Theisen spoke about how the season has gone so far, some of the highlights, and what he thinks the future holds for the Spartans. He also spoke about the team pride that this group has and how it drives them to put on a great show for the fans. Lastly, he and all of the Spartans hope there will be a packed house for their homecoming game against the Sauk Rapids Storm. See you all at the game Friday October 5, 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday the ROCORI Spartan football team traveled to Sartell to take on the Sabres in CLC action. It was the Sabres homecoming, and the Spartans had revenge on their mind as Sartell has spoiled the Spartans last two homecoming games.
