KMS Marching Saints
70 members
Director:  Pam Diem

The Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (KMS) Marching Saints are from three small farming communities in Western Minnesota.  The towns have consolidated to form one high school which enrolls 192 students in grades 9-12.  About half of these students participate in the grades 7-12 band program.  The summer of 2007 the KMS Marching Saints traveled to Chicago and they hope to travel to New York in 2009.  The KMS Marching Saints have a very strong and active music booster group.  The communities of Kerhoven, Murdock and Sunburg support our marching band program in so many ways and we thank them because without this great community effort, the band would not exist.

A special feature of this year's Sauk Rapids River Days Parade was a guest visit by the Stabekk School Band from Oslo, Norway.  Directed by Jon Einar Jacobsen and Henrik Wingerei, the band was founded in 1915 and has been adopted by His Majesty as the official King's Guard.  The Stabekk band is touring the Midwest playing in a number of venues during their visit to the United States.  The group is made up of 3 main groups; pre-band age 8-9, Junior Band age 9-11 and the main band agest 11-18.  All three bands are featured in this exclusive DigElogSAUKRAPIDS story.

Another great representative of this years Rapids River Days Parade was our own Sauk Rapids-Rice High School Marching Band.  This 90 member strong group, under the direction of Scott Campbell, dazzled the hometown crowd.  Their repertoire this year includes songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.  The 2008 Marching Storm will perform in 11 area parades this summer traveling from Waconia to Alexandria.

This is the first in a series of special videos featuring highlights of the 2008 Sauk Rapids River Days Parade and Festival.  Our first parade feature includes a performance by none other than our own Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School Marching Storm under the direction of Heidi Martinson and Danell Dalton.  The 75 member band performs Go. Go. Go... Joseph, a selection from the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
