As we show you another one of the many festival stories we’ve covered this summer, none may be as unique as this story. At the annual Sauk Rapids Food Fest, DigElog Sauk Rapids had a chance to catch up with Minnesota strong man, Danny King. King competes in the 175 lb strong man division, but don’t be fooled by his “low” weight. Some of the lighter participants at this competition can lift over twice their own body weight! 2nd Annual DUCKY RACE Held

The second annual Ducky Race was held as a part of the Sauk Rapids River Days festival on Saturday, June 28th, 2008.  Participants adopted Duckys for $5 each and the top 8 ducks crossing the finish line along with the very last duck received monetary winnings.  The first place winner, Jack Machula from Buffalo won $1000.  The 8 remaining winners won $250 each for a total of $3000 in prize money.  The race was held in the Mississippi river starting just below the Bridge Of Hope. 

The Ducky Race culminated another fantastic 3 day event for Sauk Rapids beginning with the Pageant on Thursday evening, followed by the parade Friday and Food Fest on Saturday.  Stay tuned to DigElogSAUKRAPIDS for more Sauk Rapids River Days exclusive video coverage of these events.

$10 Adult Admission at the door ($5 age 10 and under)

A Royalty Reception for Visiting Royalty will be held prior to the Pageant at 5:00 p.m. in the High School Commons

Friday, June 26
Rapids River Days Parade
5:00 p.m. Line-up on 11th Street North
6:00 p.m. START
ROUTE begins near Pleasantview Elementary School on 6th Ave North and ends at SR-R Middle School on 1st Street South

Please submit a PARADE APPLICATION by May 22, 2009
$100 entry fee per Business
$50 entry fee per Non-Profit Org.
$20 entry fee per Royalty Unit, Dignitary unit

Saturday, June 27
Rapids River Food Fest
11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sauk Rapids Municipal Park, off N. Benton Drive
Free Admission, Free Parking, Free Shuttle Service

Blue Tokens are purchased for all food, beverages & activities: 50¢ each; (bag of 20 = $10; bag of 40 = $20)
Yellow Tokens are purchased for beer @ $2 each

Family activities are available throughout the day including water wars, pony rides, inflatable bouncers, and dunk tank

Live Band Entertainment on stage at 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.

Raffle Drawings at 7:30 p.m.
