Christian Education

Sunday Education

Christian Education for our young children is one of the most important ministries at Peace Lutheran.  On Sunday mornings during the school year we offer Children’s Church during the late service for 3 and 4 year old children. We use a program called Noah's Park Children's church. (Time: 10:45am-11:15pm).  Sunday School is for children in Kindergarten through Third Grade.  They spend time learning God’s Word, we use DiscipleLand curriculum which teaches stories from the Bible. Each Sunday the classes open with a group gathering for music time. The music time is spent learning songs to sing for the first Sunday of every month during the 10:30am service.K-3rd grade make up our Children's choir. In November the k-3rd grade work with the Women of Peace missions. This year the kids will donate supplies to fill 50 back packs for Lutheran World Relief.  Our Sunday Education also sponsors a child through Compassion International.  The monthly donation is made from the children bringing in offering money each Sunday. During the year each class gets the chance to write a letter and draw pictures for our sponsored child. In December Children's Church, Sunday school and our WNL! programs come together to create a wonderful Christmas program. Our Christmas program this year will be held on December 19th. We meet every Sunday from 9:30am to 10:15am.  Sunday Education is under the direction of Crystal Ley.

The Wednesday Night Live! (WNL!) program at Peace Lutheran Church is a Christian educational ministry that serves children in grades 4th through 6th grade.  Classes meet from 6:00 until 7:00 most Wednesday evenings during the school year.  Curriculum entitled “SPARK” is used to learn Bible-based stories and messages that is very age appropriate.  Singing and team building activities are also incorporated into the evening.  Parent volunteers are utilized in helping with this program.  The WNL! students partner with the Sunday Education Youth to perform a Christmas program each December.  There are also many other fun-filled activities that happen throughout the year.  Examples are quilting and making bandages with the Women of Peace, building birdhouses and kites with the Men of Peace, and tubing at PowderRidge Ski Resort.   The WNL! are an exciting and active growing part of Peace Lutheran Church!

Registration for the new year of WNL! will occur on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:00.  Classes will be held that night as well.   Parents of children who are entering the 4th through 6th grade should have received an email with a fall schedule and registration form attached.  If an email address was not available, families can pick up the registration form and schedule on September 8th.  Classes will run from 6:00 until 7:00.  There is a $20 registration fee per student, with a maximum of $45 per family.  This is for curriculum and consumable materials.  If you have need for financial assistance, please contact me.

Identify, Invite, Involve.  These three words were spoken by Pastor Ron a few weeks ago to help our growing church utilize the talents of individuals within our congregation.  I have been inviting parents to  become involved in this fun-filled ministry and still need to fill a few positions.  Please consider your involvement within our education program and contact me.  I would love to add some new and unique opportunities to this program.
