Check in will begin at 8:30am on Monday morning (08/01). Please remember to bring a bag lunch, health forms and payment if you have not paid yet.  If you have any questions, please respond to Lisa Stukey at 320-291-8139    REMINDER OF OFFICE HOURS A reminder to everyone that our agreement with Pastor Dennis is that he would serve on a part time basis over the summer.  This means that he will be here for worship on Saturdays and Sundays and in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays.  If you would like to talk to him or have him attend a meeting, please schedule during this time.  He is always available for emergencies at 320-290-0340.  OPEN DOOR (Newsletter): The August Open Door (Newsletter of Peace Lutheran) came out this week.  Please click here for all the news! WORSHIP NOTES: On Sunday, August 7th, Pastor Greg Larson, pastor of Kairos Church in Los Angeles, California will be guest preacher at the 9:00 A.M. service. Greg is the son of Duane and Pearl Larson and has preached at Peace at least a couple of times before. He has served Kairos Church for the past 4 years. The congregation seeks to reach out to young Hollywood singles between the ages of 20 and 30 as well as hosting an urban ministry that reaches out to the homeless in the city. Pastor Larson will preach on the appointed gospel for the day. The youth of the congregation will be in charge of the rest of the service under the leadership of our new youth ministry coordinator, Caitlin Schnettler. There will also be no communion since Pastor Raymond will be on vacation. The Saturday Night service for August 6th at 6:00 P.M. will feature a picnic and a sing-a-long around the campfire at our fire pit North of the church. Bring your own food and beverage (and maybe some mosquito repellant). In case of inclement weather, the gathering will take place in the fellowship hall.    Mission Project:   The Women of Peace are once again preparing tote bags with school supplies for Lutheran World Relief.  This is the last year that they will be able to use tote bags and there are 100 bags to fill.  They need your help. Here is the list of items needed:  Notebooks- 70 page count, wide or college line Blunt Scissors Rulers with centimeters and inches Pencil Sharpeners #2 Pencils Erasers- Size: 2/5" Colored Construction Paper Crayons- 8, 16 or 24 to a box

We have plenty of room for children to attend VBS on August 1-3 from 9:00am to 4:00pm.  Please spread the word.  You may reserve a spot by replying to this email or calling the church office.   REGISTRATION & HEALTH FORMS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE CHURCH LOBBY. And by church, I mean the people - our church family. I miss them when they are gone. I know that all of us will take vacations this summer. I realize there will be trips to the cabin. I want y'all to get the rest that you deserve - after all, God is the one who came up with the idea of rest and Sabbath. But if you are still in the near vicinity of your church, even if you are staycationing, go and be present with your church family. Continue to provide for the financial needs of the ministry. Let's not forget such things just because we are on vacation."   Read the entire post here.   Mission Project:   The Women of Peace are currently working on packing layette kits for LWF.  We are in need of the following items:  Diaper pins, baby socks, Ivory soap and hand towels.  Along with these items we are always in need of: sleepers, gowns, T-shirts, sweaters, light jackets, hoodies (up to size 2) and receiving blankets.  Garage sales are the best place to find these items.  They just need to be in good condition.  If you can help provide any of these items, there is a bin available in the narthex for your donation.  You will be a blessing to these little ones that receive the kits.   SYNOD ASSEMBLY RECAP THIS SUNDAY Pastor Dennis and Steve & Kate Mooney will give a presentation on the Synod Assembly that was earlier this summer.  Please join us for coffee and and an update on our Synod.

If you wish to have beverages during your pontoon ride, please bring them with you, otherwise there will be coffee, lemonade, ice water or beer to go with your meal.  Protect yourself with sun screen, hat, sun glasses, etc.  Questions? Confirmation Camp  A reminder to Confirmation Students attending camp this coming week:  the group will meet in the Peace Parking Lot at 1:00pm this Sunday, June 19th to ride to camp together. Next week we will be having a PLANTING DAY.There will be over 1200 plants to plant! TRANSITIONAL TEAM Last Sunday our Transition Team was formed.  They are: Marian Ackerson, Toots Bakken,  Jennifer Bohnsack, Kay Cook (Chair), Amy Dingman, Jim Ellickson (Sec.), Cheryl Schmidt, Denae Stuber and Jeff Thorpe Congregational Survey:  The Transitional Team is conducting a congregational survey to assist them in submitting our ministry profile to the synod.  Hard copies of the survey are available in the lobby today.  However, the team prefers that the survey be filled out online.  Please watch the SCOOP and next week's announcements for a link to filling out the survey online.   Enclosed in your bulletin today is a contact information sheet for you to update your email address.  This will help us get the survey distributed to as many of you as possible.    WOMEN OF PEACE The response we received this past week was that the majority of women from Peace want to  continue the overnight retreat at Viking Bay Resort in Miltona scheduled for October 7-9th.  Thank you to the three ladies that have already volunteered to be on the committee.  We have detailed records of every retreat from 2004 through 2010 to use as a guideline.  Please call Noreen Noyes (363-7884) or Judy Nelson (363-8859) by May 24th if you are willing to share your talents by serving on this committee. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The last pancake breakfast of the year will be this Sunday between the services.  The menu will be: pancakes, sausage and egg bake.  This is a fundraiser to help the confirmation students attend camp this summer.    SENIOR HIGH ADVENTURE CAMP:    Youth for Christ has invited Peace Youth to participate in the Adventure Camp in Wyoming once again.  This will be the 5thyear youth from Peace Lutheran have had the opportunity toexperience a week of White Water Rafting, Mountain Biking, Hike up a Mountain, Rock Climb, meet new friends, great food and mostly renewingtheir relationship with God.  We have two weeks to choose from: July16-23 and July 23-30th. Cost is $470.00 per youth which includes transportation to and from camp, all food, lodging, equipment, guides and activity fees while on our expedition.We are asking for a $50.00 deposit to guarantee a spot, we do have some funds left from last year but we do need to do some more fund raising.
