In our third installment of Jeff Howe’s soldier presentation, he
reminds us that the best ways for soldiers to cope with their
experiences abroad are to share their feelings and to stay active.
During this story, you will also hear from a WWII Veteran that received
a one of a kind keepsake from a Polish Prisoner during his service. In
return for the man’s graciousness in offering the Polish soldier a
meal, he received a ring that was made from a spoon. DigElog Sauk
Rapids would like to thank Jeff Howe and the many others that help to
positively reintegrate returning soldiers into our society.
In our second edition of Major Jeff Howe’s story, you’ll learn more
about the many issues our returning soldiers from Iraq are faced with.
You will continue to be exposed to various photos as Major Howe
discusses some of the living conditions that Iraqi civilians are living
under. Lastly, Major Howe focuses on the importance of helping soldiers
after their tours of duty in the military end. It is vital that we not
forget about these brave young men and women that are simply trying to
reintegrate into society.
Mr. Howe’s message is relatively simple, he seeks to raise
awareness that returning soldiers, even his own, are being forgotten by
our society. There are some basic needs that require our focus and immediate attention.
This is a serious concern for us as a society and we must see to it
that these brave heroes are not forgotten.

Gluek Brewing Company opened their doors to the public at their brand
new distribution center as they hosted the annual Cold Spring Jaycees’
Soup and Chili Bowl. The event takes place the every year one week
prior to the Super Bowl and the best part is, it’s free! They gladly
accepted donations to the local food shelf and all proceeds went to the
Cold Spring Library with a small amount being set aside for other
community funds. This year’s event was even bigger and more successful
than last year. Thanks to all of those who participated whether it was
consuming or providing soup and chili. Thanks again and see you all
next year.
