Local Girl Scout Raises Money for Library by Holding Variety Show at ROCORI High School

On Saturday February 2, the ROCORI High School hosted the “Friends of the Library Variety Show” in Glanville Smith Auditorium. Lauren Rieffer directed the show and her father Jeff was the Master of Ceremonies. The show was filled with impressive acts that ranged from stand-up comics and performing clowns to an array of musical numbers.

Over $500 was raised during the evening which will be used to purchase furniture for the Children’s Room at the Cold Spring Library as a Service Project for the Girl Scout Bronze award. Thanks to all who attended and performed.

Classic Snowmobiles Cruise around on Coldest Day of the Year

The 400 Club in Rockville Minnesota hosted their annual vintage snowmobile race on Pleasant Lake.  It was the coldest day of the winter this year, but that didn’t stop the racers or spectators from coming out and seeing some fantastic racing. This event serves as a warm-up for many of the riders who are also participating in one of the regions biggest snowmobile races of the year, the One Lunger 100. Congratulations to all that participated in this event and special thanks to the 400 Club for a wonderful job hosting all of the racers and their families.

Gluek Brewing Company opened their doors to the public at their brand new distribution center as they hosted the annual Cold Spring Jaycees’ Soup and Chili Bowl. The event takes place every year one week prior to the Super bowl and the best part is, it’s free! They gladly accepted donations to the local food shelf and all proceeds went to the Cold Spring Library with a small amount being set aside for other community funds. This year’s event was even bigger and more successful than last year. Thanks to all of those who participated whether it was consuming or providing soup and chili. Thanks again and see you all next year.

But when it was all said and done a new king and a new queen were crowned. Last year's king and queen, Adam Kiess and Quinn Griffin, crowned the winners for 2007.

It is Homecoming week in the ROCORI school district and with that the Seniors took over on Monday night with a hilarious variety show. The MCs on the night were Nick Loxtercamp and Kyle Ratke. They stole the show and introduced all of the great acts. In the first part we have a couple musical guests, an I Love Lucy skit, the Senior girls dance, and the RHS Drumline. On Tuesday September 25, 2007 the landscape of the video game industry was forever changed with the release of the third installment of the epic series, Halo. All over the globe, gamers flocked to local media merchants to purchase their copy of the game. The Halo 3 release did so well that it broke the record for sales by an entertainment product over a twenty-four hour period. 2007 Hometown Pride Days- Turtle Races

It was a hot and sticky day in Cold Spring as the little kids gathered near the Cold Spring Bowling Alley. They all were there to see who had the fastest turtle. This has been an event in the Hometown Pride Days for a number of years and this year was the biggest year. Watch as the kids try to scare their turtle across the line before the others. Each kid received a juice box, a t-shirt, and an ice cream bar for racing.

It was the most successful car show the Cold Spring Hometown Pride Days has seen in its 27 years. This year we had a chance to interview Wally Eisenschenk who is the President of the Cold Spring Street Machines. The cars range from early Fords to completely re-built cars. There also is an exhibit for vintage tractors and classic snowmobiles.
