The awards ceremony will take place after the 1K Kids Fun Run at approximately 11:30 am. There will be activities for the kids and refreshments for everyone. 9:45 am - Opening Ceremonies     The opening cermony will consist of welcoming all runners, spectators and volunteers brief description of the activities and times Move 5K participants to the starting line National Anthem 10:00 am - 5K Race Start 11:00 am - 1K Race Start 11:30 am - Awards Ceremony Move participants, spectators and volunteers to the stands Give awards for the 5K and 1K events 11:45 am - Closing Ceremony A special closing ceremony is planned involving all veterans, active duty military, Reservists and National Guard members. Old Glory Run coverage from May 16, 2009

As part of DigElog ROCORI’s extended coverage of the 2nd annual Old Glory Run, we had a chance to catch up with John Swanson, one of the inspirations for the Old Glory Run. Swanson, a 10-year military veteran lost his leg in combat. Humble by nature, he often tries to avoid the spotlight but at the same time understands the importance of sharing his story. Like so many other veterans, he appreciates the efforts of people like Curt and Pam Karls that go the extra mile to help reintegrate returning soldiers back into society.

In this story, Swanson discusses how life has changed for him since the last time we saw him. He also shares how the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) has helped with his medical issues over the past year. For those that are not familiar with the Old Glory Run, all proceeds from the event are donated to the Minnesota Chapter of the D.A.V. This is a must see story, and as the 4th of July approaches it is a great reminder of the sacrifices that others make for our freedom.

2nd Annual Fabulous Armadillos Fund Raising Concert : March 24, 2012

Tickets are will-call only and will not be mailed out in advance.  Concert goers should bring their receipt to the concert any time after 11:00 a.m. on March 24, 2012 to pick up their tickets.(doors open for concert at 1:00 PM for a 2:30 p.m. show.)   You may also pickup tickets at The First National Bank Of Cold Spring between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 P.M.  M-F.

 

The 2011 concert held at the ROCORI High School auditorium was packed fore the benefit concert that featured "The Fabulous Armadillos".  A croud of over 300 was dancing in their seats as the band played vintage rock n' roll and favorites from the 60's, 70's and 80's.  In this song, "Proud Mary", the version first made famous by Tina Turner, the band has the crowd out of their seats and cheering for more.

A recent annual tradition at ROCORI High School's homecoming week Variety Show is for the senior girls to get together a do a dance performance act. This year the grand finale includes the entire senior class taking the floor and shaking the floor of the new gym.

Back and better than ever, the Cold Spring Farmers’ Market has a new location this year. Every Wednesday from 3:30 – 6 p.m. local vendors gather at Springer Park in the parking lot. In this story you will hear from the manager of the market Barb Rasmussen as she gives us some details about the market. The third annual Jaycees Soup and Chili bowl is here, and if you missed out last year, you won’t want to miss this year’s event! The Cold Spring Jaycees invites the public to enter their soup or chili favorites for the upcoming Soup & Chili Bowl to be held on January 24, 2009 from 5-11 PM at the Cold Spring Brewing Company Distribution Center.  Contestants will feature their own recipes and condiments for purchase in an exciting, festive atmosphere. The entry fee is free with an opportunity to win great cash prizes in each soup or chili category.  While the contest is taking place, attendees will enjoy music from the Marv Nissel Band that plays from 5-8:00 PM and the rock and roll sounds of That 70’s Band from 8-11 PM.  Contestant space is limited; register today!
