Interview With Coach Brink- Part Four

In our fourth and final interview with ROCORI Boy's Basketball Coach Bob Brink, he discusses the rich tradition of ROCORI basketball. He has had numerous players come through his system whose fathers had also played for him. Brink also shares how his assistant coaches' philosophies mirror his own. In building the basketball program from the ground up, it allows Brink to focus more on the "flex offense" that he runs- but no matter what, Brink will always focus on the fundamentals.

Last month, Coach Brink picked up career win number 900 in dramatic fashion as the Spartans won their game against Alexandria on two free throws with under one second left in the game. Watch this story as Coach Brink and his wife Judy are honored in front of the home crowd. When asked if he could reflect on his personal accomplishments, Brink always shifts the focus to his great staff, the system he runs, and the wonderful opportunity that he was given in ROCORI.

ROCORI Falls to Apollo in Section Semifinals

The ROCORI Spartans opened up Section play from Halenbeck Hall as the top seed taking on the fourth seeded St. Cloud Apollo Eagles last Saturday. ROCORI Started strong as senior Scott Willenbring led the charge. After jumping out to a big lead, St. Cloud Apollo would cut the deficit and ROCORI's halftime lead was only four points.

Nothing went right for ROCORI in the second half. St. Cloud Apollo erased ROCORI's four-point lead within seconds and they continued to score points as they established a solid inside presence. Meanwhile, the Spartans could not hit a shot on the offensive end. What was once as much as an eight-point lead for ROCORI had turned into a double-digit lead for Apollo. The Spartans would make a late second half comeback, but the damage was already done, and they fell to St. Cloud Apollo 54 - 50 in the section semifinals.

In the third part of our story with Boy's Basketball Coach Bob Brink, he discusses the importance of teaching fundamentals as well as building complete players at ROCORI. Brink also shares how these fundamentals are not only taught at the high school, but they are also taught throughout the entire ROCORI basketball program. In building the basketball program from the ground up, it allows Brink to focus more on the "flex offense" that he runs- but no matter what, Brink will always focus on the fundamentals.

ROCORI Boys Basketball vs Alexandria Cardinals, Bob Brink's 900th Win

After last nights loss 40 to 70 against the Minnesota Transitions Charter school, ROCORI once again goes after the 900th win for Coach Bob Brink. They also need to get back in the groove in preparation for the post season road to the State Tournament.  ROCORI wins 70-68 over the Alexandria Cardinals.

DigElog ROCORI: Three Years Ago

In honor of the ROCORI Spartans Alumni tournament, as well as coach Brink closing in on his 900th career win, we'd like to bring you a DigElog ROCORI "blast from the past." Although the Spartans were not victorious in their 2007 State semi-final game against St. Thomas, the team displayed all of the characteristics associated with ROCORI basketball- teamwork, pride, grit, determination, hard work just to name a few. Join us today as DigElog ROCORI will be at the Alumni tournament or follow our coverage online as we bring you highlights as well as live coverage from the ROCORI High School.

Here is a look at the Spartans second half against St. Thomas.

The second half was, for a time, one to remember. Everything was going great for ROCORI. They were making their shots, playing great defense, and built a big lead. The last 6 minutes, however, was one to forget. Aaseth would foul out and ROCORI went into a dry spell on offense. The Cadets would go on and beat ROCORI at the buzzer but the boys held their head up as they played a great game.
