Earlier this week, ROCORI parents woke up to a phone message from Superintendent Scott Staska as he shared with them the possibility of a H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu) at the ROCORI Middle School. Upon hearing the news about the potential H1N1 case in ROCORI, all of the major media outlets in the State came to Cold Spring to cover the story. They rushed to the ROCORI Middle School to inform the state that the Superintendent had canceled school. Wednesday evening, there was still no word as to whether the case was confirmed as H1N1 or not, but the Govenor Tim Pawlenty called a press conference for Thursday April 30, at the ROCORI High School. Early Thursday morning Scott Staska informed ROCORI parents that the possible H1N1 case had been confirmed. School remained closed and the press conference was set for later that morning at 11 a.m. Click below to view this story.
Governor Pawlenty, Health Commissioner Dr. Sanne Magnan, and ROCORI School Superintendent Scott Staska, held a press conference April 30, 2009 to discuss the next steps to be taken now the H1N1 influenza virus has been confirmed. The ROCORI Middle School will be closed for 7 days beginning Wednesday, April 29th. This closure began Wednesday and will continue through next Tuesday.
Yesterday, Minnesota became the 12th state in the nation with a confirmed case of swine flu. Ten other cases in this region of the state are still being evaluated for possible confirmation.
