Meet ROCORI Alumnus : Alex Kofoed

Alex Kofoed is a 2003 graduate of ROCORI High School. He currently is a fifth year senior at St. Johns University. Alex is a member of the 2007 Johnnies football team coached by legendary Head Coach John Gagliardi. He has traveled a long road to becoming the quarterback for the Johnnies. We catch up with Alex on a day where he played against another ROCORI grad, David Sauer. David is the starting quarterback at St. Thomas, one of St. John's biggest rivals. Both David and Alex have led storied careers at both the high school and collegiate levels.

ROCORI vs Detroit Lakes Section Semi final

It was a long trip for the ROCORI football team as they traveled to Detroit Lakes to take on the undefeated Lakers. It was a hard fought game from start to finish as the Spartans would answer everything the Lakers had. Nick Schneider was himself rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown in the first half but the Spartans were trailing by 7 as the halftime horn sounded.

In the second half of play the Spartans once again found themselves
down by two scores. But, like last time, they rallied and actually had
a chance to tie the game. The stars weren't aligned and the Spartans
eventually lost. ROCORI had a chance to tie it late in the game but a
blown call by the officials ended any sort of hope for ROCORI and its
Spartan Nation.

It was a difficult evening for the ROCORI football team without star running back Nick Schneider and pitiful field conditions. The Spartans would be in for a difficult night against the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles and torrential rain. The winless Eagles came ready to battle and put up a strong fight in this mid-week football game. Watch the highlights and see if the Spartans were able to come out victorious against the Eagles.

In the second half the rain continued to fall and the field conditions resembling a pigpen more than a football field. The game became less about skill and more about which team would make the least amount of mistakes. It was nearly impossible to keep solid footing and it would ultimately cause both offenses to struggle on the field. Watch and see if the Spartans were able to pull off a victory in the mud bowl on the road.

ROCORI High School 2007 Powder Puff Game

It was a hilarious and exciting night at Pioneer Park in Cold Spring. The Junior girls took on the Seniors in the annual Powder Puff Football game. Both
teams came out wanting to show just how good they were. The Seniors
would eventually prevail over the Juniors. Maybe it had something to do
with the refs, but whatever it was it was a great night for both teams as a part of ROCORI's homecoming week celebration.

It was a "coming out" party for the ROCORI Spartans this past Friday evening when they welcomed the Little Falls Flyers to their home field. In this clip you'll see a short pass from quarterback Adam Meyer to wide receiver Luke Vossen who then takes off down the sideline for a first quarter touchdown. Even ROCORI kicker Jake Hemmesch has a great night putting it through the goalposts for the point after.

It was another back and forth battle last night between the ROCORI Varsity Football Spartans and the Brainerd Warriors. Click on the video above to see the first touchdown of the game when ROCORI quarterback Adam Meyer makes a toss to wide receiver Zack Bork. Bork jukes the first man and on his way to running a 85 yard touchdown.

A key defensive play that took place in the first quarter was a Brainerd fumble where the ball was turned over on ROCORI's 20 yard line. This was the third game in a row where ROCORI came out strong but just couldn't put together a final score to come out ahead. The team fought hard and was in this one every step of the way.

It was the season opener for the 2007 ROCORI Football season. Adam Meyer and Nick Schneider look to carry the load for the new season. Schneider had a great first have for the Spartans with 2 rushing touchdowns.

ROCORI Varsity Football Spartans vs Moorhead
The ROCORI Spartans Varsity Football team traveled to Moorhead, MN last night to begin their 2007 season against the Spuds. After a back and forth first half leaving the two teams separated by only 3 points ( R-18, M-21), the second half the Spuds shut down the Spartans offense with the final score 27 to 18 in favor of the Moorhead football team.

2007 ROCORI Football Update

In our second look at the ROCORI football team this year we get a chance to meet the new captains. Travis Hansen is a three-year starter on the offensive line and is the only returning starter on that line. Zack Bork is also a Senior captain and looks to improve from last year at tight end. Brian Hansen will be carrying the load as the only returning wide receiver and Cory Crosby will be a force on the defensive line.
