In this story two community leaders share their thoughts about the ROCORI School District and the Referendum that will be voted on November 6th, 2007. Don Calhoun, member of the ROCORI Finance Committee and Rockville Mayor Brian Herberg give some very candid observations about why past referendums didn't pass and what voters should seriously understand and consider this time. This is a very informative story that every ROCORI citizen should take the time to view.

Here
is a clear example of why the Rocori School District is asking us to
vote on an operating referendum. Since 2003, the budget increases have
not kept up with inflation. This has put tremendous stress on the
district and their ability to provide a quality education to the young
people in the school district. Without a capital infusion into the
budget, our district will continue its recent downward trend in
available funds, which will negatively impact the quality of education
the students in our community receive and the impact that has on all of
us. Submitted by the "Vote Yes ROCORI" Committee

Here is another example of why the ROCORI School District is asking you to vote on an operating referendum. Since 2003, while the overall budget increases have not kept up with inflation, the increased cost of utilities and workers' compensation have further eroded the money available to educate our children. The final result is a budget that has declined by $1.5 million dollars since 2003 (net of inflation). This has put tremendous stress on the district and our ability to provide a quality education for our young people. The quality of education is the corner post of the quality of life in our community. Please vote "YES" on November 6th. Submitted by the "Vote Yes ROCORI" Committee
