River Lakes Varsity Girls Hockey vs Fergus Falls

First & Second Period

The River Lakes Stars varsity girls hockey team takes on the Fergus Falls Otters in a classic battle of the net.  The Otters are first to get the puck in the net and have a early 1 goal lead. By the end of the first period Fergus Falls would score again and our River Lakes girls would be down by two goals.  In the second period the Star's defense would step up and hold the Otters to a two goal lead.  The Stars offense would have some great opportunities on the Otter's net but the puck never went in.

The River Lakes girls showed how great they can be. After trailing by 2 well into the 3rd period, the Stars would scrape their way back into the game and tie it just before the buzzer ended the period . You'll have to watch this story to see how things end up in overtime.  You won't be disappointed.

7th-9th Grade Wrestling Tournament

The kids from St. Peter and Paul Elementary School in Richmond bring us their version of the 12 days of Christmas. The 4th-6th grade students sing a lovely medley of songs.

Have you ever asked yourself about how Santa gets his reindeer?  Well we ran into Donnar and Blitzen while they were pulling folks around just outside the historic Salem Church out in the country north of Paynesville, MN.  In this story you'll learn about what its takes to raise and train a reindeer to pull Santa's sleigh.

In the first half the Spartans saw the emergence of a star. Justin Stommes, by himself, tied the Storm scoring. Justin scored 21 1st half points and the Spartans look to be dominate from the very beginning. They would lead after the first half by 18, 39-21.

The second half was the same as the first. Chad Aaseth would pick things up and Aaron Burtzel would contribute through passing and rebounding. The last 5 minutes was dedicated to cleaning off the bench. Once again everyone on the entire squad would play and play well.

FIRST PERIOD

Here's a River Lakes Stars Girls hockey battle with the Sartell Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm'n Sabres.  In the 1st period the Stars jump out to a 2 goal lead on nice goals by Kenzie Novak and Megan Bergeson. Tracy Skluzacek was a force in net for the Stars and their defense was relentless.

The second period was almost a mirror image of the first.   The River Lakes Stars girls would get 2 early goals and sit back on their 4 goal lead. Skluzacek in the net would keep the Storm'n Sabres in a 4 goal hole for the entire period.

In the third period the River Lakes defense stepped up to try and maintain the shutout. They wouldn't accomplish the task but they would get the win. Tracy Skluzacek was remarkable in net for the Stars and they got great goals from a number of Stars players.

In the first half the ROCORI Varsity Boys Basketball team jumped out to a huge lead early. Great defense and a number of assists led to the quick start. Chad Aaseth was on fire in the first half with 16 points which included 4 - 3 pointers.  The Spartans caught the St. Cloud Tech team by surprise and took over control of this game early on.

SECOND HALF

In the second half the Spartans dominated every aspect of the game. They rebounded, played defense, and capitalized on mistakes better than the Tech Tigers. The Three Headed Monster (Justin Stommes, Chad Aaseth, and Aaron Burtzel) led the Spartans to a huge conference win.  Their are some highlights here you won't want to miss.

FIRST PERIOD

Welcome to the first period between the Stars and the Eagles. It was a very physical, defensive first period. Not alot of shots for either team and no goals. A few good chances and some pressure applied to both goaltenders.

SECOND PERIOD

In the 2nd period the River Lakes Stars find themselves in an early hole. They will allow 2 goals and have to climb out of another deficit. Skluzacek was brilliant in net for the Stars and they would make a 3rd period push.

THIRD PERIOD

The final period was a cliff hanger. The Stars will allow an early 3rd period goal to make it a 3 goal game, but on the back of Alex Naujokas, they climb back into it and make it a 1 goal game. With about 30 second left the Stars were forced to pull their goalie. Could they tie it up in under a minute?
