Waite Park Council & Park Board Break Ground For New Trail

This story features the ground breaking of the "Harry P. Nelson" trail that will run along 3rd Avenue North in Waite Park. Mary Ellen Nelson, wife of Mr. Nelson, was present for the ground breaking along with my representatives of the Waite Park City Council and Park Board commission. This trail will eventually connect to the Lake Wobegon trail when a bridge is built across the Sauk River and the trail is extended from St. Joe into Waite Park from the northwest.

In the fall of 2009, the DigElog Waite Park team caught up with a construction crew that was working on a new new Highway 23 project to County Road 137. As you'll see in the footage, the project consists of sewer, gutter, and sidewalk installation. With some help from Mother Nature, construction crews were able to work late into 2009 and pick up early in 2010. You can see the team hard at work and although it may seem as though not much has changed, the project is still on pace to finish up at Summer's end in 2010. Another road construction project is going on at the corner of 2nd avenue north my the marketplace annex. 3rd street north trail project is also featured in this video. Get A Grand Tour Of The New WAITE AVENUE - 44th AVENUE

In this story Bill Schluenz, Public Works Director in Waite Park, gives us a tour of the new Waite Avenue that just opened officially on Thursday, September 10th.  Our tour includes a complete description of the challenges and key elements that make up the new street and make it a key resource in our community. From railroad crossings to bike trails, Waite Avenue has many amenities that required extraordinary engineering and multi-community cooperation. 

Herman "Gonner" Bartz Receives Waite Park City Award

Herman Bartz was a little surprised to see a number of his family members attending this weeks Waite Park City Council meeting.  He was even more surprised when he received an award recognizing this 35 years of service in the community as both an employee and volunteer.

In this story you will hear from Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud. There have been a number of car accidents at the intersection of 1st St. South and 10th Ave. South in the past year, and because of those accidents, the city has been forced to ban left hand turns for vehicles traveling East on 1st St. South attempting to turn north on 10th Ave. South. Bentrud also fills us in on a couple of other issues in the city. For more safety updates with Police Chief Bentrud, stay tuned to DigElog Waite Park.

Waite Park will be celebrating Minnesota's Night to Unite Tuesday August 4th.

If residents would like to have a party they are asked to register with Alicia Mages at the Police Department by July 24th.  The Waite Park Police and Fire Departments will be visiting parties as available.
